2013 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt - Round I

 Oh, hello Tuesday.
Survived Monday.
One day closer to Friday.
Carrie gets her car air conditioning fixed today.
{yeah, that's a big deal!}
Hey, so my good friend Rinda over at Gallo Organico is hosting her third annual Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt. I've participated every year {you can see my 2011 photos here, and 2012 here}. There are 21 photo prompts to be captured between now and September 21, and I have three so far that I'm sharing today.

Item #6 - Someone or something taking a nap:
As I was reading the photo list to Doug for the first time he raised his eyebrows on this one, and I promised then and there that I wouldn't take a photo of him taking a nap. Haha - I figured, right from the start that this would be an easy one, as cat naps happen regularly around these parts. And here, Whiskers rests his little kitty head on a stack of cards I've recently received from blog friends. Sweet dreams!

#7 - A sign that is intentionally or unintentionally funny:
Leaving a hair appointment, I drove past this sign, then made a right turn back into the parking lot to capture this picture. I'm not sure how funny it is, but I figured there wouldn't be another sign, all summer long, that could be more perfect for me. :o)

#14 - A stained glass object or a mosaic:
This mosaic of a yucca plant is on the sidewalk next to a local light rail stop {McClintock and Apache in Tempe}. I love the dark lines between the sections, caused by a sun low in the sky and casting heavy shadows.
* * * * * * * * * * * * *
I'm resisting the urge to worry about finding all 21 items on the list, as I know from experience that the tricky ones materialize when you least expect to see them. Plus, I've been seeing other participants posting scavenger hunt photos left and right so I'm resisting the urge to feel already-behind.

I'll just be over here going slow and steady,
{like the turtle}
and I'll see you in September with all 21.
PS: Anyone know where I can find a dinosaur?

I'll probably have a cat-napping photo as well! As for the dinosaur... think out of the box... I spotted one at Ashley Home Furniture. Now I just need to go back with a camera!

There's no problem finding dinos in toy shops over here....though you can get some very funny looks if you're photographing one!!
I love that sign....but am slightly concerned about turtle flavoured custard!!!!

Awesome start! Turtle is one of my favorite flavors ;) I'm thinking the windmill might beat me!

Great start! I certainly hope the turtle custard means chocolate, caramel, and nuts!

Turtle flavour? Or is this another thing that means something quite different in America?! Great mosaic, such pretty colours. Seems like a lot of us have animals happy to be caught napping! I think this year's subjects are going to be fun to find, although I am trying to work out where the nearest dinosaur may be!

Love the sign! I know how you feel about being behind. I've taken a couple of photos but haven't blogged them yet. I'm thinking ive got the whole summer ahead of me and I want to take some in Italy next month!

Love the cat napping. That turtle sign made me laugh out loud. I took several pics but have not posted yet. I'm so happy I found a dinosaur.

Turtle? I am confused! I haven't started yet- I am feeling very behind. I love the colours in the mosaic.

Turtle: I'm thinking those chocolate, caramel pecan things.

Meh, you'll find what you'll find ... as for me, I am more worried that I won't 'see' anything in a cloud! Not sure what that says about my creativity, or lack thereof!

Turtle flavour? Not known down here ... please explain??

I think slow and steady is the answer. Love the sign - but turtle flavour :op

What a beautiful photograph of
Whiskers Jay, and the sign is hilarious.
I'm sure if you keep your eyes peeled, you'll run across a dinosaur somewhere. And I'm thinking you might be able to find a windmill at a miniature golf course.

I am streets behind, so you are way out in front as far as I can see! Love your napping cat on top of the cards; they just don't care, do they, cats!

Love the mosaic!

Is that a mock turtle custard? Made me snort a laugh.

Aww! I really find the first photo fascinating. It's great how a photo scavenger hunt challenge like this can bring smiles to many people. The kitty seems so peaceful while sleeping. Capturing such moments is just magnificent! I wish you good luck on your search for the other items on the list!
