Around the block{s}

These little blocks of wood were salvaged from the property we used to own in Young, Arizona. We brought them home a couple years ago and turned them into chalk blocks {which kind of started a run of making more for gifts and giveaways...}. It's been fun to change them up, thinking of ways to have them fit the "season."

For the past month they've read "M♥VE." When I packed them last week I changed the "V" to an "H" so that as soon as they are unpacked they can be arranged to read "H♥ME."

It never hurts to have a little something to look forward to!

Our baby friends are 1.

Yesterday Carrie and I (and my mom came along too) went to the birthday party of our now one-year old friends (today is their actual birthday). We worked with their mom, Janae, a few years ago at a scrapbook store and have known these two little ones since the day she announced she was pregnant...with TWINS.

Typical boy vs. girl. Kinsley tasted a little of the frosting and the "mess" you see on her tray was as far as that went. Brayden went to town smashing up his cupcake into the smallest bits possible. Later on he even shared crumbs with his sister.


The name tags I made for their gifts (cut from Mickey Font on my Cricut) were turned into name tags for them by their mom. :o)

A new twist on the old block...

When I did my first blog giveaway, Hubby helped me make a bunch of these chalk blocks. Four went to Helena (winner of the prize - see lime green blocks in the photo below) and I ended up using a few sets of four as Christmas gifts. We had a little assembly line going... Hubby is the kind of guy who doesn't throw stuff away. Like, it's bad sometimes. Anyway! He had a larger board in the garage and while he was cutting the standard sized blocks, he cut a few out of the larger board. I'm not one to waste much either, so I painted a couple and gave them as gifts. The "wish" picture above was for my niece, Savannah, and this one for her brother, Ryne:

The kids loved them ~ and I had fun making and giving them. Isn't that what it's all about?!?!

PS: I'm in the process of setting up an Etsy shop and will be selling some of these blocks there. I'll let you know when it's up and running.

Around our house...chalk blocks.

We have these little blocks of wood, made from scraps that I salvaged from our property up north. They live on a shelf on The Wall in our family room. The fronts are painted with chalkboard paint, and every month I change the word to fit the occasion. This month is hubby's birthday so we celebrate him and the chalk-blocks help. :o)

And the garland strung across the front is one I made a few months ago -- LOVE garland!!!

Sometimes the blocks just read: "HOME" or "LOVE." In October it was "BOO" with a spider drawn on block #4. December will be "NOEL" or maybe "SNOW" or...who knows. They are a fun addition to our house!
