Yoga and the Turtle

Good day, blog friends.
Thanks so much for your sweet and supportive comments last week when I announced that I'm taking classes to become a yoga teacher. I felt so happy knowing that you were happy for me. :o) The good news is that I made it through the first week of classes and I absolutely LOVE it! I am definitely right where I belong.

{photo bomb with a cat paw...}

I am now up to my elbows in yoga books and terminology, and doing my best not to feel overwhelmed by the list of assignments due between now and December 21st. Hey, it's just yoga after all. No need to get worked up about it. Besides, I technically have two full years to complete the course work if I choose, and while I'd love to proclaim that it will all be done before the last class in December, I'm going to remain optimistic and realistic. I'm soaking it all in and trusting the natural progression of things.

One of the assignments I'll be presenting at the end of my training is an example of how I practice yoga off the mat in my day-to-day life. It's an open assignment, meaning we can do whatever we want with it, so I've decided to document my yoga journey with a blog feature called "Yoga and the Turtle." I'll save those posts and photos into an online source and have them printed in a book at the end of my training.

That should cover two bases: 1) making time to blog, and 2) satisfying my desire to share yoga on this blog space. I do hope you'll enjoy learning a little bit about yoga as I work my way through my teacher training. It's a pleasure to have you along for the journey.

Peace out, my friends.

Cute photo! Looking forward to your Yoga posts. I tried Yoga once but there were many problems with the teacher and her schedule. My daughter has taken Hot Yoga and loves it. She has sent me a couple of You Tube links to try some beginner Yoga (not Hot Yoga) at home. She thinks I'll love it. I'd love your thoughts on trying this at home.

If you can pass on any hints on how not to wobble while trying to stand on one leg - that might help me!
I love the idea of yoga, (although my sense of balance means I can't do it!) relaxing, stretching and clearing your mind so I can't wait to hear more about your journey on this course.

Woo-Hoooooo! Wonderful Deb!
You know, I just looked at my own blog (to see if I had any new comments ;-) ) and there was a link to a post I made aaaages ago, called "Turning Turtle". It was all about how I kept bumping into turtles that week, wherever I went. So I had made a Treasury list on Etsy, with lots of Turtles, in appreciation of the coincidences - and also of a certain Turtley person's blog....

And then I looked at my blog friends list in the sidebar of my blog... Right at the top, is a header:"Yoga and the Turtle".... and here is a post from the Turtle of all Turtles, about something fabulous!

I missed your earlier post, about your decision to study to be a yoga teacher. But now that I know about it, I am so pleased for you. I do love Yoga, though my "practice" is non-existent these days. I would love to come to your Yoga classes, once you've qualified... Better start saving for that private jet!
Good luck with your course and Namaste! XX

Sounds like a great way to document your journey and keep us in the loop. Looking forward to sharing it with you.

I'll be looking forward to finding out more about your training. The yoga classes at our gym are a bit above my abilities, though I occasionally give one of them another try. Joint issues keep me from being able to get into certain routine poses, so I always feel a bit conspicuous. For a while there was a wonderful class called Essential Stretch. It was perfect for me, but it was discontinued.

I'm so pleased for you and I'm sure you'll be a great teacher. I have told Hugh I may join the gym in September and I believe they have yoga classes so I'm hoping to check them out (though if it's not for beginners I don't think they'd want me 😉) . Looking forward to following your journey on your blog.
