Team Teal Tuesday ~ Get in the Photo!

This is one of the few photos I have of my mom and Carrie at Christmas. Carrie was two at the time, and my mom was spending Christmas with us in Arizona, having recently lost her husband {my step-dad, Frank} to leukemia that September. {Yes, this was three years before Papa Rod became one of us.} I have always loved this photo of Carrie wrapped in her grandmother's arms, their hands are intertwined and sweet smiling faces with love written all over them.

It recently occurred to me that I don't have a photo of my mom and me at Christmas time. Can you believe it? Not one photo. My parents didn't take many pictures while I was growing up, and then I moved from California to Arizona at the age of 19. Thanksgiving was always our traveling holiday - Christmas was a time to stay home and so my mom and I weren't together. But still, it would be nice to have a Christmas photo {or two or ten...} with my mom.

So this Team Teal Tuesday is a chance for me to share this super cute Christmas photo of my mom and my girl C, and to also encourage all you moms to get in the shot when the camera comes out this Christmas. Trust me, years from now your grown-up kids won't care that you weren't wearing make-up or your hair wasn't done!

I love and appreciate this timely reminder. And I wish I had some pictures of me with my parents at Christmas time.. I need to make sure my own children can't say the same thing. Thank you

A great reminder even for those of us that aren't young moms. I love how wrapped up in each other they are.

What a gorgeous photo- you can see how much you look like your mum - I don't think I have one with my mum and dad either.x

I don't think I have any photos either, probably because Mum & Dad were far too busy in the kitchen to be taking photos! It's shame that we are from a generation where photo taking wasn't an automatic part of any get together but I know we are all making up for it nowadays!

That's one thing I shall be making sure I do this Christmas, as well as getting a picture of me and my Mum. Such a lovely photo and such a shame there weren't any of you and your Mom. A very good reminder to everyone.

Such a great reminder. I have no photos from my childhood at all, so I try to take a family photo every Christmas.

I still have to work to remember to get photos of myself with Caleb, but when the whole family is here I am always sure to get a photo (me included.) When my father died, my brother gave me all the family photos. There is exactly ONE photo of the four of us!!! And it's not a particularly good one, either. So very sad!

A great reminder Deb because I know I am not in them nearly often enough!

Great reminder Deb. I'm usually the one taking pictures and not in the shot. I will learn how to set the timer and use the tripod. Love the picture, You can see all the love in the picture.

I love the photo of your Mum and Carrie and you are so right Deb. With my Dad having been ill it's really made me think about getting shots with Alice and my parents so she'll know how much they loved her once they're no longer here. I do need to make an effort to get in the photos myself - I try with Alice but I need to make a point of getting in photos with my own children too. Thank you for pointing that out. xx

I don't have any pictures either and what movies we do have are usually of the tree. If there does happen to be people in them their heads are cut off (my Dad was not great about making sure people's heads were in the little marked off rectangle).

great advice, Deb! I just realized last night - I am not in a single Christmas morning photo with my kids! (and now that they're growing, I really really wish I were. but my husband is a head chopper, so I always take the photos.) And I LOVE this photo of Carrie and your mom! So sweet!

Awesome. Just awesome. I have very few pictures from Christmas as a child, but I've definitely made up for it with my kids.
