My Mom and Team Teal

~ Rest in Peace, sweet Mom ~
April 29, 1942 - October 9, 2012

Let me tell you about
my amazing mom, Marti.

My mom was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer in February 2011 and received chemotherapy treatments for 19 months prior to her passing in October 2012. She fought cancer with the same tenacity that she fought every other hard time in her life - with strength and grace that makes me even more proud to be her daughter.

"Team Teal" was a term coined by my brother, Ron, when our mom went for her first chemo treatment. During my mom's battle with cancer, we recruited over 30 members from around the world who wore teal cancer awareness bands in support of her fight. In addition to that, they sent dozens of cards and letters to my mom and helped to lift her spirits on days when she really needed it. We will be forever grateful to the members of Team Teal for their support and acts of kindness shown to our mom and our family during such a sad and difficult time.
