My Sunflowers

The waiting game started when I planted sunflower seeds on May 5, 2012.

I planted two varieties - some tall and some short. Turns out that waiting for FLOWERS to happen has made me realize how impatient I can be. Could I really be so attached to instant gratification?

These were worth the wait...
lesson learned.

The photo above and below are from the short version. These stand about knee high and so far there are two flowers in my little garden that have bloomed.

And remember this guy? The one that Doug has been the expert on? Here's how it looked this past weekend - standing about chest high:

{All of these photos were taken with my iPhone. Pretty cool, huh?}

How about you? Any sunflowers yet?
How does your garden grow?
:o)

I love sunflowers, but we don't have enough sun for them.

Love the detail on that last shot - fuzzy soft tendrils - so cool! I love sunflowers, but Jay doesn't so I haven't convinced him we should plant or buy some

Great pictures and definitely worth the wait. Nicholas grew them when he was little but we haven't since then.

They are beautiful, aren't they. I'll be showing mine off tomorrow; a poor comparison, I can assure you!

If you are impatient, you should plant impaciens. (is that how you spell them?)

Love that one of it first opening up! I'm absolutely no good at taking pictures with my blackberry - always seem to move. :) No signs of our rudbeckia (closest thing we have to sunflowers) bursting into bloom yet.

Oh I have to say I am impatient too! I'm becoming obsessed with my Daylilly's! I look at them every morning as I walk by on my way to the garage thinking "why haven't they bloomed yet"! I did manage to take a beautiful photo this morning of one in my front yard, which I will post hopefully soon :)
PS - yes, very cool!
