It's July! A Weekend Recap

Greetings, friends.

It's Monday and I'm hitting the ground running this morning, but before I get started on other things, here's a little look at what went on around here this weekend. :o)
The wife of a long time friend of Doug's passed away last week, and we started our weekend with her memorial services on Friday night. She was 50 years old, and was taken by a brain tumor - leaving behind a sweet husband and four sons. While the situation is very sad, I have to say that this was one of the most uplifting "letting go" experiences I've ever had. Her husband, Dan, has been such an inspiration with his gratitude-laden Facebook statuses along the way. Prayers for Debi S's family as they will miss her so much...
Celebrations continued for Debi S. on Saturday night too, with a "Going Home" party in her honor, complete with lots of [potluck] food and blue grass music.

It's hard to tell from day to day if our turtle, Rex is growing, but apparently he is because his original little hut had become a bit of a tight squeeze for him. Doug gave him some more space this weekend and I did a little rock stacking. I like the looks of his new digs. :o)

Saturday's mail contained a sweet surprise from my blog friend Ruth {furrypig} ~ a super cute dish towel commemorating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebration. I love it!!! {Thanks, Ruth!!!}

I spent some time in my craft room yesterday finishing up my sister's birthday present {more on that later in the week once she has received her package}. Time in my craft room always includes a struggle over my chair. As soon as I get up, Whiskers jumps in and takes my seat. When I return I have to shoo him off and he always protests - even hisses at me! Hrmph!

Our weather has been so stinking hot over the past couple of weeks but we had a little break yesterday with cloud cover and lower temps. By last night we were able to enjoy our dinner on our patio and the sunset backdrop did not disappoint. The company was pretty awesome too. ♥

This week: Prayers for my mom {Marti} if you are so inclined as she is having a rough time with the chemo drugs she's receiving. It's a short work-week ~ a day off in the middle for 4th of July ~ and my brother and his family will be rolling in from California tomorrow afternoon for a few days of fun and laughter. Hooray for that!!!

Wishing each of you a ton of blessings this week!

So sorry to hear about your friend - prayers to her family! Other than the sad part of saying goodbye and your mom, it sounds like a good weekend. We'll keep your mom in our prayers too. xoxo

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I also have a dear friend fighting a brain tumor (also in her 50's). It's just so hard! Keeping Marti in my prayers.

Seems like a weekend full of the good, the bad, and the beautiful! Just happened to have popped a card into the mail for Marti on Thursday, so hopefully she'll have that this week if it hasn't already arrived. Didn't know why at the time, but I was feeling the need to do so...
