My Mom's Birthday Party

Hello, friends!

I mentioned in my weekend recap that I hadn't taken a whole lot of photos during our recent trip to California for my mom's birthday celebration. I was having such a good time, I honestly forgot to get my camera out. And when I did, the lighting was poor and I didn't have the time to fiddle with my camera settings and the result was some not-so-great photos. Oh well. When I look back at the photos I did take, I see a lot of very happy people having a great time, and that's what matters most in this case!

It's a 10-hour drive from our house to my sister's town, and I kept myself busy in the back seat making these tissue paper flowers. I saved the fluffing part until just before the party and I'm so glad I did. It was fun to hang out with my sister, SIL, nieces, a nephew, and my girl C who all did their part to help fluff flowers. Here's Carrie with two of her cousins {my nieces Britny and Presley}:

We used bundles of these flowers as centerpieces for the tables, and they were really cute {if I do say so myself}. The pinatas I made were on the front table along with a little guest book I made {also cut on the drive over}:

This little tag book was a last minute idea and one that my mom really loved. I cut the tags on the trip over, then Carrie helped round the corners, and my sister and I drew the colorful lines around the edges. As guests arrived we gave them each a page and asked them to write something they loved about Mom on their piece. We put colorful markers on each of the tables and the end result was really fun - a colorful keepsake with special notes from each guest. We collected them and during dinner Carrie randomly selected three of the cards and those guests were the winners of the pinatas I had made.

I'm so happy that we were able to make the trip and celebrate with my mom. It was great to see her surrounded by so many friends and family who love her and wish her well.

Hooray for birthdays!!!

What a great party - the tag book was certainly a divine inspiration! I'm sure she will hold that close to her and reread it often.

Had a little flash-back of my party looking at these pictures! It was the most fun and the flowers made everything so festive. I couldn't ask for better kids, grands, family, friends or most importantly, our banker, Papa Rod! Thanks again for all your creative touches and BTW, I loved the tag book!! Love you so! xoxo

The tag book will probably be the best of the gifts. Those kind of things are so meaningful. What a fab photo of your mom and Carrie!
