Before, During, and After: My Craft Room

Hooray!
:o)!!!!
Are you ready?
Come on in...

The first thing I loved about this room is that the window opens up to an atrium. The door that you can see outside opens up from the kitchen.

A terrible photo of an amazing and fun project:

This is someone we hired to retexture the walls:

My BIL {Doug's brother} Don helped with the floors:

Doug on a ladder...    {hehe. Because it's my blog - and I can...}

Ok! Enough of that. This is it now:

Still not as organized as it will be, or as embellished as it will be, but it's my space and I really, really love it! I originally wanted white walls so that's what Doug gave me, but now I think I want color...still thinking on that one... {I think my grandmother's dresser and mirror would really pop with a color behind it...}

We replaced the closet doors throughout the house but I wanted something different for this room. Carrie had some vintage sheets she'd picked up at the thrift store so she let me pick my favorite and I turned it into a closet curtain. {I just folded it over at the top to get the right length and used clip-rings to hang it.}

Wanna' see the mess of stuff inside? Ok...here you go...
Showing the inside of my craft closet kind of makes me cringe...it's so packed with a random overload of stuff. But to be honest, it kind of makes my heart sing too. It's taken me a long time to collect all that stuff, and I'll use every bit of it...someday...right?

One last look - notice the hallway through the door - you can see our wedding picture in the distance.
November Attitude of Gratitude:
* I am grateful for a handy husband. His talent goes far beyond the paint roller!  ;o)
* I am grateful for a craft space to call my own - one that has a door that can be closed to hide my "work in progress" and to keep the cats out.
* Even though the volume is a bit embarrassing, I'm really grateful for my collection of craft stuff.

Your craft room is wonderful! Love the Bob Marley thing hanging on your wall... is it a canvas? And I agree with you - the dresser and mirror would look great with a pop of color behind it. You could always choose to make it an accent wall and leave the rest white.

:o) Hey, Cheri ~ Yes, the Bob Marley "Three Little Birds" piece is a canvas that Carrie painted for me. I love it too.

And I'm definitely thinking about an accent wall behind my grandma's dresser. I originally wanted the room to be white so that it would reflect some good light for photos, but I'm thinking either a pale blue or yellow behind the dresser would be a nice addition. xo

Deb:
What a great space. I like your curtain instead of doors this way you can change it with the season.

PS: EW that you posted a picture of Doug's butt! That's way worse than me cussing on my blog!!

What a lovely space you have there and how wonderful to have a door you can close so you don't have to see it when there are "works in progress" ;-). I think you're right about colour behind the dresser and mirror, it would certainly stand out more. xx

Isn't it great to have all your stuff in one place where you can get to it! Your are lucky to have a variety of supplies. Nothing is worse than starting a project and not having something.

NEVER - EVER - be ashamed of your stash. No, you won't use all of it, but it is at your disposal for when you want it! It also gives you a reason to dream.

What a lovely bright room it looks pretty organised to me. The sheet repurposed as the curtain is genius for hiding 'stuff'.Happy creating.

I am blown away by what you and Doug have managed to achieve in such a short space of time, I know how much works goes into these projects and I know how high you need to keep the motivation levels - well done to you both!

I think this is such a fantastic craft space, the Bob Marley canvas is sensational .... you have me thinking now .... I might have to 'lift' that somehow ;-)

I like the white and the light, but, since you have such a handy masculine force in the house, why not play around with colour? ;-)

Thanks so much for having us over, Deb! It looks great :) I am hoping sometime in the future I will have my studio straight enough to photograph it. I used a fabric shower curtain for my closet doors and love it. I'm all about color so would probably paint and the white would definitely pop but you could stay white and put lots of cool things on the wall.

What a beautiful creative space you have. I love the white walls, but agree that a colour behind that wonderful dresser would really make it stand out. Maybe just paint that one wall. I love the curtain made from the vintage sheet and the peek behind it!
Passata=sieved tomatoes with the skin and seeds removed. I was going to email you, but couldn't find how to!

Love your fantastic craft room and am only slightly green around the edges with envy. I am grateful that David puts up with my crafty mess - at present in the dining room as my craft space is kind of crafted out and in such a mess!

I say celebrate your stash! Especially if you cull it occasionally. Love the human model on your desk, and I think the white walls are wonderful - they give so much more light than colored walls.
Just my two cents.

Awesome tour and awesome craft room. You certainly deserve it; your work is wonderful! Your comments about your closet remind me that "clean the studio closet" has been on the to-do list for weeks now.

Hope this works this time.
It looks terrific Deb. Love how light it is and I think the idea of a feature wall behind the dresser would really make it stand out.
