It's how we hang.

Greetings, blog friends!

We've been busy around these parts, putting some finishing touches on our house before having guests over for breakfast yesterday morning. I've had some things I wanted to hang on the wall but needed to take some time to sort out how I wanted them to be displayed. I used this technique at our former house and it worked so well I used it again - thought I'd share it here for those who may be interested.
I used a large piece of paper {One of the perks of being me: my hubby is a painting contractor and has rolls and rolls of masking paper...} and arranged my frames and shelves on top of it on the floor.
I moved things around {...moved them around again...and again...} and when they landed in an order that I liked I traced around each piece with a marker.
Next, Doug helped me tape the paper to the wall and gave his opinion about how high the grouping should be. For the record, I won the final say.  :o}
Then we put nails in the wall - going right through the paper.
Pulled the paper off, slapped the frames and shelves up there, and we were done.
Hooray.
We like it.
 :o)

That looks great!!! Come hang things for me, Deb! Especailly cute shelves! We just don't have the equipment to hang shelves. :( Hammer and nails just don't seem to cut it with those things.

Thanks, Robyn... Truth be told, Doug used anchors for the little shelves. :o)

LOVE this. So cool that you showed how you did it because I thought it was a genius idea when you did it in your last house.

PS: The lighting of these pictures is PERFECT.

Oh Deb I adore how you have grouped your photos, pictures and shelves and know that I am definitely going to be doing something similar once my lounge is finished.

We have a great wall where I'd love to do something just like this, and I LOVE your idea of making a template ... we are a lot slower in the painting stakes though - we need a professional for sure!

It looks great! We used the same technique when we did a photo wall at the top of our stairs. I think it's almost foolproof.

Very clever idea! I have a friend who is a graphic designer and she cuts pieces of paper to the size of her pictures and moves them about on the wall until she is happy - but I think I like this method even better

So clever! I will have to file this one away for future reference. In fact, I think I'm going to go back and pin it!
