Carrie is moved into her new home and nicely settled. This weekend she hosted a housewarming party and asked me to make brownies for the occassion. I had a plan...and it included cuteness.
.
My brother {and Carrie's dear uncle} traveled from California to be here this weekend. He stopped by our house yesterday morning before the party and when he saw the pan of brownies I could see his eyes light up...so I offerred him one. {This after warning Doug not to eat too many before the party because I wanted to make sure I had enough for a plate full!}
.
I made little flags using toothpicks and Happy Tape and knew I had to wait till we got to Carrie's house to put the flags in - too difficult to wrap with plastic wrap and keep fresh with the flags on top. I took my camera to Carrie's to get one more shot of the brownies before serving them up. {eh-hm...because it's not just brownies, it's a blog post!!!}
.
My brother was hovering close by as I removed the plastic wrap from the brownies, little flags in one hand and my camera close by. Before I knew it, he'd grabbed a corner brownie and took a bite before my photo was taken. Ugh! My natural instincts still wanted me to call out, "Mom!!!"
.
Oh well. I took a picture of the other end of the plate just for my own satisfaction.

The party was a success and it was great to see
friends and family gathering in my daughter's
home, filling her space with love and laughter;
congratulating her and showering her with gifts
and well wishes.
And a partial plate of brownies.

Brother or Bother? They never grow up - never! Still, those brownies do look rather irresistible... Love the cute flags too!
So pleased that Carrie's party went well - I wish her all the best in her new little home.
However much we love them....brothers were put on this earth to be annoying!!!
The brownies look great.
What is it about boys and brownies! I know a lot of men who really aren't all that much into sweets, but they all seem to love brownies. Very cute story.

Having eaten that first one, I'm surprised he didn't offer to eat one from the other side too. Just to even it up a bit, of course!
They look delicious and the flags are just the finishing touch.
Pleased to hear she is settled into her new home. Hope she is very happy there.
This post reminds me of a story I wrote when I was really little (my mom saved it: "I went to the beach with my sisters and my big bother." And I like your idea: PLAN for cuteness!
Argh! Brothers. They do look like very, very tempting brownies it has to be said!
Very best of luck to Carrie in her new home. I'm glad she had a great housewarming party.
look gorgeous!!! :) yum!
Lovely brownies but the urge to shout for you Mom is priceless - it never goes away does it?
Yum! They look gorgeous - even with the corner missing ;-) I have a bother too.... And I do sometimes tell Mum of him!!
Those brownies look so dang good right now!
Love the brownies and the little flags :) I'm so glad Carrie's housewarming went well, it must have been so nice for her to be able to let everyone see her new home too :)
yum, yum. those look delicious.
Delicious looking brownies ... I think brothers are the same the world over! Still, it's given you a great story to scrap! Happy home to Carrie. x
I hear you, Sweetie! From the sound of the other posts, I'm not the only mom who failed in the fine art of raising boys to NOT be greedy when it comes to brownies (and other things sweet!). Yummy looking ones at that! Glad the party was a success--wish I could have been there! xo
Mmm...those brownies were SO good...wish there had been some left over! :) Thanks again for making them!
You had me at brownies.
Brothers .. urghhh!
Love the Happy Tape Deb :-)
Adorable!! I love how they turned out. So glad to hear it was a wonderful celebration :)
Yum at the brownies, and if I ever get to see Donny in Vegas- you will be one of the first people I tell :-)
Yummy, yummy...what great photos. I want to reach right in and snatch one of those delights.
Hugs,
Catherine
These look so yummy! Great idea to use the tape to make the flags. Glad that your daughter has settled in to her new home.
