The new house and a long weekend recap

Hello, blog friends!
Has it really been two weeks since I blogged? Oh wow - I am super glad I chose to take a little break on this space during our house move. I had last week off work and we have spent the past nine days...well...let me show you...

Whiskers Jay has lived in this house for six days now. As I type he is meowing in the hallway. Over and over and over. He's starting to settle in, for sure, but he is still very nervous about the new digs.

The floor tiling took waaaaaaaay longer than was originally anticipated. To the point that the tile guys were feverishly grouting as we were moving furniture in on Tuesday.

A house move is tough on pets...

My new craft and yoga space:

Our turtles went from living in turtle paradise to living in the projects. They seem to be doing ok - a bit hard to tell with turtles. We have some ideas for a new habitat for them, but at this writing I'm not sure when we will have time to make that happen.

It's shots like this next one that have me feeling grateful and super overwhelmed all at the same time:

At the end of every day we were absolutely spent. I don't even know how to begin to tell you how exhausting and exhilarating and hot and sweaty and tiring and joyful this past week was for us.

Fortunately, Doug seems to have ended the 9-day run (actually, 7 weeks for him) unscathed. As for me? Well...my right knee and ankle and heel = ouch. And. Oh my goodness. I woke up last Monday with shingles. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. O.U.C.H. So that has been a bit of an ordeal but I am coping!

This week. Sigh. This week...

My personal to-do list is super long, and I'm headed back to work this morning to face another kind of to-do list in the midst of the pull to want to be home continuing to settle into this new space. And that last sentence sums up the rambling pace of my mind right now. Ha!

This Friday marks the three-year anniversary of my mom's passing. Boo! :o( So many times over the course of the past nine days I thought of her and longed for her. I wanted to call and cry to her about the pain of shingles and the frustration of tile guys and the exhaustion of moving in this Arizona heat.

And this coming Saturday I'm leading a yoga/mandala workshop so there are kits to be made and a class to plan between now and Saturday afternoon. {lots of deep breathing...}

Even though I'd love to have a few more days off work, the thought of sitting in my office chair for a whole eight hours today sounds more appealing than I ever thought it would.

And with that I'm off to roll out my yoga mat and get back to a somewhat regular routine.

Have a great week, everyone!
See you next time...

Whoever would have thought that going back to work would seem like the easy option? Looks like you have been SO busy, no wonder your immune system has taken a hike and let those pesky shingle germs in. You poor thing, I hope it clears up soon but I guess it's a virus which just has to take it's course :-(
I can't believe three years has passed since your mum died - the changes you have had in your life since then, my goodness.
Keep smiling, keep mandala-ing and keep well!

I'm so sorry to hear about the shingles, sending you a hug. Moving house is always an ordeal (and I've done it a lot!), but soon you'll be wondering when hasn't the new house felt like home. Hope you don't drive home from work to the old address ...

Wow, you have been busy. Thanks for the update. For some reason I am thinking that you just moved into the current house not that long ago, or not. Take it easy.

On another note, as I just remembered after posting my other comment. We were just talking about Arizona, since our family lives in Scottsdale and Gilbert. My son, Alex, wanted to drive there over the weekend so he could play video games with his cousins. We were laughing because it is very possible. We made it to Phoenix in one day this summer while driving to California.

Oh my goodness, shingles is not fun ... Hoping you can take some time off to relax and recover, despite the pressure of feeling you need to fulfil commitments. And it's hard to believe it's three years since your Mum died; thinking of you and sending warm and healing energy.

Shingles?1 Oh, no. I hope you have something to take the edge of the pain and that you have some time to rest..stress definitely doesn't help.

I've been thinking of you as the nights draw in here.

Your kitty is so adorable, I like the photo of him in the moving boxes. Your yoga crafting room looks big and full of potential to be such a happy place. I have had shingles so I know of the pain and discomfort. I had mine on my face & in my scalp. Calamine lotion really helped as did the anit-viral medication. Sending you healing thoughts.

I've been waiting for this post. Your new house is going to be amazing! Take your time, you'll get there. Moving is so exhausting. Take that desk time to plan your class and soothe your soul. The work will wait. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress as you go along settling in to your new house. I'm so sorry about the shingles. I hope you have a speedy recovery from them.

Oh no, shingles!!! I had the vaccination, but they say it's not 100% effective, but I'm hopeful. Take good care of yourself---knees and ankles too. It may seem overwhelming, but "knowing" you and Doug, you'll soon have it looking wonderful! Your new studio space looks fabulous! Hang in there!

Hi Deb! I am worn out just reading this post. No, seriously, I hope the shingles are better. I don't know much about shingles but I've always understood that they're extremely uncomfortable. Please send hugs & kisses to all the pets. They are too adorable! The poor turtles must be like WTF! Ha ha. The new space looks awesome and full of potential. Oh, and I just read the most amazing book....10% Happier by Dan Harris. I think you'd like it a lot so I wanted to pass it on. Not that you have much time for reading at the moment!!! XOXOXOXO

Oh no - shingles. So sorry to hear you've come down with it, I know first hand how painful they can be. I hope they are going away and you'll soon be feeling like your normal self.

I am totally exhausted by your work and to do lists. Hope the knee is better by now. I am so sorry you've had the shingles! I go the vaccine last winter because I am super paranoid about getting them. Both my mother and grandmother id and it was horrible. I have suffered with fever blisters my whole life and had chicken pox so wanted as much protection as possible.

Moving can be such a stressful time. It seems like you have a never-ending list of things to do and you always feel like you're forgetting something epic that you know you'll regret later. LOL. The floor came along nicely, it looks really good. I chuckled at the picture of your pets. They're like "Ummm, what is going on? What is this?" LOL.
