Hey! How did you know? A simple moment.

"I'm soooooo jeally..." she cooed as she lifted my new phone off the counter. In an instant she had pressed the button and swiped her finger across the screen, revealing the passcode keypad like magic.

"Three, f..." I began, but her quick and nimble fingers had entered my passcode before I could speak all four digits.

"Hey!" I said, "How did you know my code?" and she laughed.

"Because it's my code too! I just automatically entered it without thinking."

Suddenly I'm transported back in time - back to a time when my sweet little Carrie had to stand on her tiptoes to see the keypad in the grocery store. We'd stop there on occasion after work/school, and she always insisted on doing the debit card swipe and "secret passcode" at the check-out. The same "secret passcode" that we have each assigned to our own phones, some 20 years later.

"This is so cool, Mom-friend," she continued, turning my new phone over in her hands to examine it further. "I'm happy for you..."

Aw!

At this point I'll admit that there are still high counters where I have to stand on tiptoe to put in my code!

Oh, what a tender and poignant moment! And you clearly share so much :). How exciting it must have been to stand on tiptoes to help Mum with her grown-up things ... Thank-you very much indeed for linking up and sharing this, this month - I am always pleased to see you in the Linky!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the Van Morrison track, it's one of my favourites! I couldn't find you on the WOYWW links list and wondered how you came by my blog...it's no problem, in fact it's lovely to meet you, I'm just interested to find out. For that, read NOSEY, lol!!!
I enjoyed reading your posts and was very happy to find the link to the Jack Daniels cupcakes :-)

There is so much in this moment Deb! Firstly I too am jealous, a new iPhone you lucky person! I remember as a child watching my mum get money out of an atm and she told me that there was a man in there counting out the money and posting it through the machine to you. She used to joke with me and tell me how annoyed 'the man' gets when you ask for a balance and he has to count all your money! Thank you for bringing back that memory!
Incidentally the boy and I have the same pass codes because I am useless at remembering numbers!

You and Carrie share so much more than a simple passcode, but this story exemplifies your special relationship.

What a great moment! We all have the same pass code, too . . . not a lot of imagination in the choosing, I"m afraid.
