The Weekend's Not Over Yet

Good day, blog friends.
Welcome to another weekend recap, even though my weekend technically isn't over yet. {Can I get a hooray!?!?} Today is Labor Day - a holiday in the US and Canada set aside to honor working people. So, yeah, us working people get the day off work and I am not complaining!

In case you don't remember, it's deer season in these parts, so Douglas was off trekking through the Arizona wilderness searching for deer {nothing dead on last check in...}. In a way I feel like I haven't really used my alone time wisely during this deer season - I've been taking it easy to the point of being, dare I say, lazy? And some might argue that is a very wise way to spend time on a weekend...

I get my new music from Carrie. The most recent tunes she's turned me on to are by Michael Franti, and I have been listening to his new cd, All People, over and over again. Favorite song is "Do it For the Love." Carrie won concert tickets to see Michael's show in October and I was really happy to hear that the show is at a venue with no seats. That means we can remain standing and dance through the entire show. :o)

For real: when I put this pan of brownies in the oven on Saturday afternoon it dawned on me that I was on my own for the entire weekend with no one to help me eat these goodies. Oops. I ended up sending a couple home with Carrie yesterday, and I wrapped and froze the rest of them to keep them out of sight. All this after I ate a good portion of them. And this may have been my dinner on Saturday night.

I did spend a little time with my sewing machine, working on Carrie's quilt. I'm getting close to completing the top!

Yesterday morning I was up early so I poked around in the backyard for a while. Our temps were a bit lower, but oh was it humid! Anyway, I did some weeding, planted a few more sunflower seeds hoping for a fall/winter crop, and took a few photos.

Gee, now that I'm typing this weekend recap I don't feel so lazy. I even managed to give Lucky a bath! Doug hasn't been around the few times I've bathed Lucky so I have no photos of the process, but he's just so cute when he's getting washed. Ew - all the dog hair that comes off of him is really gross, but whatever I can get off during his bath is that much that doesn't get on our floors when he's inside.

He feels so good when he's all clean - runs around like a maniac for a while until he calms down. I sure love that little dog.

Carrie and I met for a pedicure yesterday and got teal toes for September. I'll have more on that tomorrow for Team Teal Tuesday.

And with that, I'm off to tackle my day. I have laundry to do and some house work to get done today since I managed to ignore those things for the past couple of days. Hm...I should print some photos and catch up on Project Life today too... And catch up on some blog reading... And go to the grocery store...

Have a fantastic week, sweet friends!

That doesn't sound lazy to me. Your flowers are beautiful. Rex is growing. Can't wait to see Carrie's quilt. Love your self portrait. That chocolate looks delicious, just send it my way and I'll take care of it for you. Have a great Labor Day.

I'm laughing. Brownies are my absolute kryptonite when it comes to behaving - I see them and I go weak in the knees and all willpower flies out the window! But I can certainly think of worse things for dinner... Your rest of the weekend sounds kind of like mine.

You fitted a lot into your "lazy weekend" Deb! Those brownies made my mouth water and I can't wait to see more of your quilt.

Labor Day sounds like an excellent invention! I think we need it here too :)

And a good week to you, as well! I never think of Arizona as being humid. It's been sticky here, too, but probably nothing to compare with yours. We ended up having a busier weekend that we planned, but it was a lot of fun.

It doesn't sound to me that you were at all lazy this weekend :) x

That doesn't sound very lazy to me, definitely not like ours which was lazy. Those brownies look delicious! Boy now I get an idea of Rexy's size - he's bigger than I thought he'd be.

We love Michael Franti! Perhaps you need some down time that is not focused on productivity. Part of the mourning process, perhaps?
Gypsy becomes a "new dog" after she gets trimmed and groomed . . . it seems to take years off her behavior.

Sounds like an ideal weekend, especially the brownies for dinner part! Isn't it amazing what we do when we don't think we are doing anything?
