Blogging affords me with such a sweet variety of friends. I've never known a florist before until I met Jane {albeit via the internet}, and I always enjoy seeing her arrangements. They are a far cry from my humble pieces, but flowers in the house are awesome no matter how they are displayed, I say. :o)
Doug spent another weekend searching for deer but came home empty handed again, much to his chagrin. This round of archery deer season is over so his window of opportunity is closed for a while.
I was so happy that it rained this weekend so I could be home to enjoy it. A rainy day when you're stuck at work is the worst - I always want to go home and bake! And bake I did this weekend: a batch of banana chocolate chip muffins, peanut butter cookies, and some mini-chicken pot pies for our dinner last night.
I'm not sure what these flowers are - some kind of mum perhaps? {Maybe Jane can tell us...} I loved them as soon as I spotted them in the grocery store on Saturday.
A typical day for our box turtle {Rexy} usually involves
All weekend I watched for a rainbow. Do you do that? It's dark and cloudy and rainy then all of a sudden the sun peeks through... As soon as I see a little sunlight I run outside to see if there's color. Finally, yesterday, a rainbow! This one stretched all the way across revealing a full arch. I'm not practiced in the art of rainbow photography so you'll just have to take my word for it. It was awesome.
In fact, my whole weekend was pretty awesome. It started with dinner on Friday night with Doug and Carrie. Then I had yoga class on Saturday that nearly killed me {sheesh, it was hard but it was wonderful}, and my sisters-in-law came over on Saturday for a girls night in {♥}. Yesterday I caught up on Project Life photo printing, and did all the aforementioned baking - all while the rain fell and our doors and windows were wide open. Loved it!
On tap for this week: some busy-ness at work, a few evenings alone while Doug paints an office building, and getting ready for a little road trip with my girl C this weekend. Not that I want to wish the week away, but... c'mon Friday!!! ;o)

Your weekend dos sound wonderful. Rain makes it so cosy and does inspire one to cook/bake.
We are desperate for rain here. maybe you can send us a little from Arizona? What's wrong with this sentence?

Lovely flowers! I am also one whom watches for rainbows. I've yet to see one but it does take a little rain which we are lacking. I hope we get some soon.
Sounds like a great weekend and a great one ahead. Recovering still from Friday's kidney surgery, so yoga is temporarily on hold for a while...boo!

I love fresh flowers in the house and yellow ones are my top choice. Ah, baking in a warm kitchen while it rains. Bliss!
I have never seen those pretty flowers before, how lovely that they will last. The way the petals hang remind me of Echinacea. We had the most beautiful rainbow yesterday but I couldn't get a good picture of it.
Love your pictures today, especially that rainbow! Hopefully there are some more rainbows out today so that I can catch them. Are you doing Week in the Life? I am. :)
Is it wrong that I do a silent cheer for the deer when you say Doug came home empty-handed? I feel bad but I do that every time. Anyway, those mums you bought at the store are really, really gorgeous. I don't think I've seen that type before. I love how Rexy gets active when it rains. He's so adorable! And I do look for rainbows...and I get SO EXCITED when there actually is one! I'd love to link up but don't have any fresh flowers at the moment. I think I may pick up some tomorrow morning when the girls go to school!!! Glad you had such a nice weekend!!!
You take beautiful photos Deb. I particularly like the photo of the flowers with their petals dropped down because of the rain. Flowers in the house are wonderful aren't they.

Oh my... I had the same thought as Amanda... I never think of rain in Arizona! The yellows are so cheerful and lovely... especially on a rainy day. Baking, sounds like the perfect activity. I admit.. I am so envious... you have your own, personal box turtle that meanders your yard... awesome! Happy week ...Susan

Charming flowers - I like the top photo best - I like a little flower in a little container - so pretty.
I'm glad you had rain - we had sun and I'm glad we did too. I'm canning pickled beets right now - and then later it will be too warm to work in the kitchen.

I love the sweet simplicity of your flowers, Deb, and it had never occurred to me before that rainy days make me retreat to the kitchen for some comfort-baking, but it's so true. Happy road trip to you!
What bright beautiful yellow flowers, I guess they brighten any rainy day. Your husband should come to my house, my backyard is full of deer which I am constantly trying to chase out. Love your turtle.
You did make me laugh with your wanting to be at home for the rain. Saying that, we are having some showers here but it will take a lot to make our grass green again...

I'm afraid while we were away two of my sunflower plants grew so big that they toppled over....DD1 assures me it was not her fault!!
Down here we would call those little yellow flowers Paper Daisies ... but I am by no means an authority!
They are called paper daisies or Helipterum. They dry beautifully and hold their color. They are such a sunny color. Wonderful for a little color all year long.

I love flowers in the house too! And the great photo opportunity they represent. and getting to keep the doors and windows open when the weather cooperates.
So I am a little bit sad for Doug but hugely glad for the deer :). I think I missed out on the hunting gene. Your flower photos are lovely and I especially like the third one and the last one. If they are straw flowers, then they will dry beautifully. Your baking day sounds blissful and hoping you have a lovely time with your DD :).
I can picture how beautiful and cosy your house was with those gorgeous flowers and the smell of baked goods (while it rained outside). We all need that kind of quality time. Thank you for sharing your wonderful day with us.
