Around Here this Weekend

Eeyore voice: Hello blog friends. It's Monday.
 ♥
Just kidding! I couldn't be that grumpy after such a lovely weekend.

But seriously? Ick - it was hot here this weekend! I did manage to spend some time outside in the early morning hours (6:00 a.m.-ish) tidying up a bit.

I cleaned up our sunflower bed and yanked a few dead stalks out of the ground. I was careless and accidentally pulled a stalk that looked dead on the bottom, but had new growth on top. Oops! I hate that.

Saturday morning I made an egg boat for breakfast. My original recipe is here, and for this one I used diced zucchini, Canadian bacon, and parmesan cheese. Even Doug, who isn't a big fan of zucchini, liked this one.

More tidying in the backyard. Yes, the sign has been moved, but it is purely for decorative purposes and in no way is intended to make one bit of difference for a little dog who loves to dig. ~sigh~

Doug spent his Sunday over at Carrie's house helping her with some home repairs while I did laundry and baked cookies at home. See that 1/3 measuring cup in green below? My mom had a set of these old Tupperware measuring cups and her set was missing the 1/4 cup. I'd been missing the 1/3 cup for a few years now, so when Mom left I ended up with a complete set. It's a sweet little reminder of my mom every time I bake and use these cups.

Our turtles were party animals this weekend - out and about and really active. Rexy had been very timid after he woke up from hibernation this year, but lately he's been curious and not so quick to retreat when I enter his habitat.

And this guy? Crazy.

I'm hoping for a very quick week as Doug and I will be heading toward the ocean this weekend. I have a whole bunch of stuff to do to get ready for our trip, and to say that we are looking forward to our little get away would be a huge understatement. We can't wait to feel the cool temps and breathe the ocean air!

But until then, there's work to be done and joy to look for.
I'm off to do just that.
Have a great week, everyone!

Did you just change the header or have I been totally unobservant? ::sigh:: I would be happy to have that for breakfast. So excited that you are headed to the ocean, nothing like seeing the water and breathing that air. I have no doubt that you will find joy this week!

That egg boat looks so delicious that I copied your recipe. I will try that very soon (and follow your advice to take pictures while it cools a little bit). Thank you!

Love the idea of an egg boat, and your pup's pretty blue eyes.

You are one of the most productive people I know. We love your egg boats and that looks like a great variation.

Aww, sweet story about your Mom's measuring cup.

Oh that looks yummy, but I'm still perplexed about what you call Canadian Bacon because we just don't have any such thing here in Canada. So I'm not sure what I'd use instead. Love how your Mum's measuring cup just fit right in with your set - I've got the same set only in orange. I hope you enjoyed your trip to the ocean.
