This Weekend, In My Garden

 Good Monday morning, blog friends.
The Mondays just keep rolling right around, don't they?
We had such a nice weekend! I mentioned to Doug on Friday evening that this was the first weekend in a long time where I didn't have anything that I had to do - what a nice feeling. We spent our weekend being with friends and family and just taking it easy.

Our weather was nice, but it's warming up around these parts, so we spent a lot of time in our backyard this weekend - soaking it up before it's too hot to be outside for a while.

Yesterday was Mother's Day here in the US, and I spent the majority of the day with Carrie. She made breakfast for me, then we headed out for a little shopping for the afternoon, and Doug grilled burgers for us for dinner. It was my first Mother's Day without my own mom, and my heart was a jumble of longing for her, but joy and gratitude for my girl C. It's such an honor and a privilege to be Carrie's mom, and I was fine as long as I kept my focus on that. {She wrote the sweetest tribute for me over on her blog. }

And now I'm off to tackle the week ahead.
I'm so excited to see what's going to happen this week!
I'll bet it's going to be good...

I bet it is too, Deb! I thought of you yesterday and how it must be a strange day, missing your mom and having time with your glorious daughter. I am so glad you had a good day! Btw the sunflowers are looking good :)

Your garden is looking so lovely....everything is behind here with the long winter that we've had.

These special days can be so hard after we've lost someone. My DH's dad died on Fathers' Day (when he was about 20 years old), which I think must add quite a lot of poignancy to that day for him - though he never has made a fuss or really mentioned it, he is a positive type of guy; but he must find it hard sometimes.
But birthdays, Christmas, Mothers or Fathers day etc can be hard.
It's great that you had Carrie to share your day with you and Doug to provide comfort - and burgers!
Happy Mother's Day to you Deb - for yesterday. XX

BTW, sorry meant to say that your garden plants are looking great!
We have tomato plants growing here - but they are still on the window sill, about 2" tall... While Deb has Big Red Tomatoes bustin' out all over!

Thanks for stopping by my Phoenix Daily Photo site. I'm jealous of your green thumb. I have terrible luck trying to garden and I love gardens so much. Those tomatoes are looking very good.

Your garden looks great! We've had to bring in our potted flowers for the last two nights because there's been a threat of frost. Tonight's supposed to be the end of it. Thank goodness.

No tomatoes here yet, but we have lots of little yellow flowers. Your pansies are so pretty! I loved them as a child.

I love weekends when there are no firm plans - they always turn out to the best ones for me!

You've got tomatoes already! They look absolutely yummy. I'm so used to not seeing home grown ones till August. Glad to hear you had a special day with Carrie.
