A Day in the Desert ~ Arizona Wildflowers

I see only one problem with having a fun and busy weekend: the days go by far too quickly! Oh, but we got some fresh air and sunshine, soaked up the beauty of Arizona wildflowers, and made some memories. I had a hard time narrowing down the photos to share today! Here are the ones that made the cut.

The weather on Saturday was perfect for a quad ride in the desert {two hours out of town, just up past Roosevelt Lake for my locals who might wonder}. We thought we might be a bit late in the season to see many wildflowers, but we were wrong. There were so many varieties still in bloom, and I must have said, "Oh how beautiful!" 500 times. The desert is stunning right now!

Doug was really excited about this gila monster we saw when we got back on pavement and were headed home - they are rare and hard to find. We also saw two rattlesnakes in the road on the drive home. Other critters for the day included: a road runner, quail, a really cool hawk, a chipmunk, and some lizards.

So that's my partial weekend recap for this Monday morning. Yesterday was a day for catching up around the house - mostly laundry and photo printing for Project Life. There's a lot on my list of things to do this week, so I'm off to start tackling it.

Here's wishing each of you a week full of laughter and blessings and wildflowers.

The desert is surprisingly colorful! I can't believe how many different species of flowering wildflowers/plants you have going on there.

Looks so pretty, not how I expected the dessert to look. Not so sure about the snakes though!

wow what a beautiful array of wild flowers. I especially love the cacti with the pink flowers. It must be wonderful to just get out there in the desert.

All those photos are spectacular! I wonder if wildflowers are more of a western U.S. phenomena. I've really been enjoying ours and will have some posted later this week.

How very beautiful! We were lucky enough to be in the desert one spring about 15 years ago, and I remember how wonderful the wild flowers and cacti were.

It's funny how you have a picture of what places look like in your mind, these photos are not what I expected and the scenery is stunning! Not so sure about the rattle snakes but a road runner? Do they look anything like the cartoon? xx
