The day we went to Liverpool!
:o) ♥
My girl loves herself some Beatles. I do too, for that matter, so when we planned our trip to England it was a given that we would spend some time in Liverpool! From my travel journal: "Oh my gosh - SO much to say about today! Fun. Amazing. Beautiful. Nostalgic. The Beatles! Carrie and I were awaken by children in the hallway of our hotel around 8:00 a.m. We quickly got up and started getting ready. We had a train to catch to Liverpool!"
"Seriously, our timing couldn't have been better. Carrie did a great job of navigating the Underground in London, and to the train station for Liverpool. I swear, everything we've done here has been perfect timing."
True. It seemed like we'd be walking/rushing to catch a train on time and we'd get there just as it was ready to leave. This happened over and over during the course of the week, and we never once missed a train.
We stayed at Hard Days Night Hotel and that was really cool! Lots of Beatles memorabilia and references. The "do not disturb" sign read "Let it Be" on one side and "I Need You" on the other. Cool. We were very fortunate when we checked in and received an upgrade to a deluxe room. I'm pretty sure that's how we ended up with a nice bathtub, complete with bubble bath that we both were happy to use.
"We LOVED Liverpool and wish we had more time there. It was such a nice city - and the people were all so sweet. Beatles stuff was every where! We took the Magical Mystery Tour bus and got to see where the Beatles lived, performed, and wrote songs."
"The tour ended at The Cavern Club where the Beatles got their start. We went back to our hotel to freshen up, and then headed back to The Cavern Club where we drank pints of cider and enjoyed listening to two brothers performing Beatles songs. They were awesome!"
We called my brother Ron via Facetime from The Cavern Club for his birthday. It was so much fun to see his smiling face and to show him around the club. He could hear the performer in the background singing "Let it Be." I'm smiling as I type this, remembering his happy birthday face!
"We had so much fun singing along and dancing and enjoying the evening. Our day in Liverpool was such a favorite time for us!"
What an amazing and fun day in Liverpool - and we still had more time planned for the following day. We would look around Liverpool some more in the morning, do some souvenir shopping, and then head back to London around noon because we had tickets to see a show the following night.
"We are having SO much fun!"

I've definitely enjoyed reading all these posts and living your trip vicariously. But I'm left wondering - other than the one little mother/daughter meltdown - was there anything about this trip that you didn't enjoy? Or that disappointed you just a wee bit???
I have to think hard about your question, Cheri, but the truth is that we enjoyed pretty much every bit of it! Truth be told, I wasn't all that wild about Paris, but I won't play that up in my post about our day there. You'll just know that by this here comment. ;o)
My husband would love to go there. When we went to England we didn't have enough time to visit all the places. Beatles fans here!!
So enjoying reading your holiday posts :-) and seeing all the photos too! Xx
Best day of my entire life.
I have been following your posts and loving each and every one of them. Since transferring to Bloglovin from Google Reader - I can't seem to be able to comment unless I specifically go on to your blog - strange, I will have to investigate this.
I am loving this series! Wonderful pictures and you both look so happy to be there.
I am loving your updates Deb - have caught up a bit with them now I am home again ... talk about the trip of a lifetime, to be able to take it with Carrie!
My girl loves the Beatles too. She bought a tshirt recently with their picture on and the first time she put it on she sighed happily and said "Ah, I've got my boys on, what could be better?" So I'll have to show her this! I think your enjoyment is easy to see and that makes it such fun to read. I can remember being at Lime Street very early one morning after coming across on the overnight ferry. But that's another story..Lovely post!
Your trip just gets better and better. Such happy faces in every photo. I'm loving this series of posts.
So glad Liverpool was all you both wanted it to be...I saw your comment to Cheri about Paris, and funnily enough I remember thinking when I saw a pic of you at the Eiffel Tower that you looked quite strained
Alison xx
You both look so very pleased and happy in these photos, despite the grim weather! Your sheer enjoyment of how special this is to you gladdens the heart :).
What I notice most in this post is how many pictures there are of you and your girl TOGETHER. In the end, that may end up being the best part of the trip - time spent together that you both will always be able to look back on. My favorite is the reflection in the mirror.

Love the photos and the travel notes! I'm so glad it was everything you'd hoped for! (And will you please email me about Paris? Because it is the second time I've heard a similar comment and I wondered if your reasoning was the same as my friend's)
Love this post. Makes me want to go there with my boys who are inspired by the Beatles music.
I'm loving reading about your trip even if I am late reading it. :) Sounds like you had a fabulous day!
