Team Teal Tuesday ~ and Project Life

I fussed over my 2012 Project Life and found myself in constant ridicule of myself. There wasn't enough journaling, next-to-no-embellishments, didn't have a week-to-week consistency... Instead, it was a whole bunch of photos of a whole bunch of family time ~ spent together as a result of my mom's battle with ovarian cancer.

That's not to say that it isn't sprinkled with our life around our home and some road trips we've been on. It's just a random collection, and one that I figured would be cool to look back on. Someday.

And then my nieces came over.

When I caught a glimpse of my nieces through the atrium window,*
hunched over my Project Life and soaking up the memories,
time stood still for a moment.

They were taking it all in. My trips to California to be with my mom {their grandmother}, the 4th of July, a 92nd birthday, a 4th birthday, a first communion, a funeral, a wedding, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. A book filled with photos of the people they love, and photos of themselves here and there ~ smiling faces of the people we connect with in this project called life.

In that moment when I saw my nieces through the window,
I had no doubt that my 2012 Project Life was exactly how it was
meant to be. And I love that I didn't have to wait 20 years to know
it was worth the effort to preserve some of those memories.

* Right. So. I realize that taking these photos of my nieces through
the window of my craft room borders on creeper. Our house has an atrium
in the center, so it's a bit of a fish-bowl-existence sometimes.
Anyway! How could I resist? All things considered.

I'm guessing they won't mind at all! As long as that pic makes it into the 2013 PL album!

It's so wonderful you got this affirmation! In my heart, I'm sure someone will treasure the stories and photos I've captured in my albums even though no one seems to notice now.

I don't think its creepy at all, just seizing the moment ;-)

I'd missed your previous post on your atrium - thanks for the link to that, now I know where you were when you took the photos! I've not done Project Life, but the way you did it last year seems to totally be the right way for you. Glad that the family are enjoying your album.

Not creepy at all ~ it's exactly what we want to see ~ our loved ones connecting with our albums. I love it when The Boy Child looks through ours.
I think I'd like an atrium in my next house ...

I love that you posted about the atrium...it sure made me smile! So glad you're getting your PL pages done. Mine are still being assembled in my mind.

PL, WITL, DD,and JYC are all projects which are wonderful because of the whole, not necessarily each individual spread. I would imagine you captured so many wonderful moments and some pretty difficult ones in 2012 - together they have helped to tell a great family story.

Lovely! To see their pleasure must repay every minute you have spent on your album.

Funny, I can remember being envious of my cousins who had a Mum who made albums for them..I always admired my memory keeping aunt!
