Strawberry Fields Forever

My mom likes strawberries.
{thanks to me, I think...}

Over thirty years ago I made some little stuffed strawberry Christmas tree ornaments for my mom. After Christmas, she tied them in a bunch and hung them in her kitchen, thus beginning the strawberry collection in her kitchen that rivals my own collection of turtles.

When I saw this Doodlebug paper at the scrapbook store a couple of weeks ago, I just had to have it. Along side of it in the store was a cute little embellishment that I initially picked up, then put back on its hook thinking, "Hmph...I could make that." And I did.

I used a heart-shaped punch for the berry, and then I used my 1/2" corner rounder to soften the point at the bottom. A flower punch served as the leaves, and some white-puffy-paint became seeds.

I used these little berries as embellishments on cards - one for my mom and one for Grandma.

So, I wonder, do you use punches very often for crafting? And if so, are there any that you use to make other interesting shapes?

What a sweet card. I recently bought a 2 1/2" square punch to cut my Christmas cards for a mosaic project. I am also looking for a punch in the shape of a guitar pick for my son to make picks from old credit cards.

Deb, these are soooo cute! Seriously, you could sell them. I really think you need your own craft shop. You could have classes, and teach other people your adorableness! Too cute!

That is a very clever use of a heart punch and a very pretty card. Sadly I don't use my punches as much as I used to maybe I need to look at them in a new way like you.

Yes, I have punches, no, I never use them. I would never have even thought of what you did much less actually remembered to come home and do it lol

Punches are the tools I use most. I am in awe as to how you seem to come up with such clever ideas. Love the card.

Loved being the recipient of one of these little works of art! It's so pretty! And yes, had it not been for you, I wouldn't have a strawberry kitchen that "almost" rivals your turtle stash! If I had a blog I'd probably have to use the title of this post for my header!!!! Love you, Sweetie and thanks for the sweet card! xo

I love your strawberries and creativity. I have these punches and I can't wait to make some of my own. I am curious...who makes the strawberry paper that you used on your card, it is such a perfect match.

Thanks for your comment, Shelley - just in case you check back, the paper is by Doodlebugs. I should have mentioned that in my post!

Thanks for stopping by! :o)

Who makes that yellow heart punch? Not familiar with the looks of it so I can't identify it for myself. Is it light to hold and use? I found some of the craft punches are so heavy because of what material the blade is made from.
