Seriously?
January is already coming to an end?
~sigh~
We had a really nice weekend, and I have a few pictures to show for it.

Mother Nature blessed us with some beautiful weather this past weekend and we took advantage of it by spending some time outside.
We finally gave up on the poor tree in our front yard and Doug spent some time on Saturday cutting it down. Our house sat vacant for a year before we purchased it, and none of the trees were watered during that time. We've been able to nurse the citrus trees back to life, but this poor guy just wasn't cutting it. I sat in a camping chair and watched Doug enjoy his time with the chain saw. {The whole thrill-of-a-chain-saw makes no sense to me, but Doug loves it!}
Doug cut the wood into smaller pieces, stacked it at the edge of our yard, and the next morning one of our neighbors knocked on our door to ask if we were giving it away. He needed firewood, we needed to get rid of it...everyone won {except for the tree}.
I know you're wondering about my garden... :o) We're learning the lay of the land here. Turns out my little garden spot doesn't get a whole lot of direct sun this time of year, but the tomato plants are hanging in there.
My sweet father-in-law loves to go out for breakfast. Doug and I met him at San Marcos Resort Sunday morning for brunch.
This resort is 100 years old this year, and is the oldest hotel in Chandler, Arizona. In fact, the city of Chandler is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
I strolled around the grounds and took a few pictures {with my phone} while Doug and his dad took care of the tab. Beautiful setting!
Our bellies were full from such a large breakfast, but these bananas were calling my name. I made a batch of banana bread {with mini-chocolate chips} and took a loaf over to Carrie's house.
Carrie called to see if I wanted to come over and walk with her and Marcus-the-dog and I jumped at the chance. I hope she posts the photo she took as she got a really cool shadow shot. {My best shot pulls into Blogger upside down, so I'm sharing this one instead.}
And there you have it - a little recap of our lovely weekend.

Sounds like a great weekend. I love going to the San Marcos. It is on the way to one of my favorite stamp stores. So whenever we do a road trip there, we always allow time for lunch.
What a nice, relaxing weekend. Love the bougainvillea photograph. I also love going out to breakfast - rarely disappointed. I was just thinking of your mom the other day! Have a safe trip.
