Around here this weekend

Good day, blog friends!
I woke up Saturday morning and set an intention to just go-with-the-flow for the day. My entire day was booked with back-to-back activities, and I made up my mind in the morning that I'd remain in the moment wherever I was. When one activity was done, I'd easily move on to the next thing. Saturday was awesome! In the midst of all of the places I went and all the people I saw, I managed a few photos to share on my blog today.

My commitment to yoga teacher training kept me from being able to attend my niece's bridal shower on Saturday, so I sent a gift for her with my sister-in-law. My niece and her fiancé are nature lovers, so for Kaycee's bridal shower gift I created a picnic blanket that I rolled up and tucked into an insulated tote. I worked in this sewing project over the course of last week, finishing it up on Thursday evening and coming home on Friday during my lunch hour to wrap it. I hope they have so many fun picnics on this blanket.

In backyard news, we had two exciting things happen this weekend. Number one: SPRINKLERS! Doug has been shoveling and moving dirt, hooking up sprinkler lines and working his tail off back there. Grass is in our near future!!!

And! Thing number two is that our baby turtle, Casper, came out of hibernation! We've yet to see Rexy, but we've been more concerned for Casper because we still consider her our "baby" and because she went down so early last year (October). Look closely among the shredded bark material in the next photo, and you'll see her emerging...

Saturday evening we attended a wedding reception for our nephew Cody and his wife, Tiffany. They were married in Las Vegas in December, and it was so much fun to celebrate them with friends and family. Oh my goodness, the cake table was so pretty!

The weather was absolutely perfect for an outdoor party on Saturday night! Dinner was yummy, the band was really good, and a great time was had by all. I snapped the next photo of our 4-year old great-niece watching the bride and groom's first dance.

My yoga teacher training this weekend was so good. It was led by one of my favorite teachers, and I always come away from those workshops with a renewed sense of purpose in my own practice, as well as new ideas that I can incorporate into my teaching.

And then comes Monday morning and I set my intention for the week ahead. Like Saturday, I think I'll just go-with-the-flow this week and let it take shape as each day rolls around. As for now, there's a yoga mat calling my name...

Have a lovely week everyone!

Love the blanket! It really does help things flow positively when we set our hearts and minds on enjoying and being present in each activity. We leave on a big trip Thursday morning so lots and lots of deep breathes here. I am visiting Pat this afternoon, having SmallFrye time tonight and getting my hair beautified tomorrow morning, leaving the rest to getting ready and centering myself instead of my usual pre trip stressing. Welcome back, Casper!!

wow what a busy weekend full of fabulous events - such a good intention to be present for each thing - when I'm busy I so often find myself thinking ahead to the next things rather than enjoying each to the full. I love the idea of a cake table and that one looks so yummy

I like the idea of setting your intention, first thing; as Sian says, it is a good day to have a good day. Lovely colours for the picnic blanket, ONLY TOOK A WEEK TO CREATE!! something like that would take me a year at least - what a thoughtful & kind gift. I really like weddings, I love, love & the celebration of it. Backyard creation is moving along quickly, grass needing cutting before you know it. I see Casper coming out - what tales will she have to tell of her slumber. I do hope you have a good week

What a great idea for a shower gift! You were busy, and it looks like it all was good. My weekend was also busy, and also very good!

A picnic blanket sounds like a perfect present. I've given a couple of picnic baskets as wedding gifts; but never thought about blankets. How lovely. Hope you have a great week Deb

Oh they'll love that picnic blanket and it will be envied by all their friends, what a fabulous gift! And I think I gained weight just looking at that cake table - it's splendid.

I've been following your blog for a few years now. I would love to know the story behind your love of turtles. Pus, I would love to know how you make them stay. I can't tell by the pictures---maybe they are in some sort of container or there is a barrier they cannot climb. Anyway, I think it would make an interesting post.

Thanks a lot for this post. Reading it was way too interesting. Keep sharing such posts. Well, I am going to have a DIY wedding very soon at one of Chicago wedding venues and right now finding some easy inspiration for the decorations.
