'Twas the weekend before Christmas and all through the house...

Good morning, blog friends.
And happy Christmas week!
gulp.
I'm living on borrowed time this morning, my friends. Resisting the urge to get too crazy in my head with "OMG I HAVE SO MUCH TO DO" and throwing caution to the wind by heading out to soak up some nature {as soon as I post this, make sandwiches, and get myself mountain-ready}. Doug and I are taking a quick trip today to grab some more firewood. We have been enjoying fires in our new fireplace since our Arizona weather has been on the cooler side.

Anyway - here are some photos from our weekend...quickly...before Doug comes in from loading his truck and realizes I'm still on the computer...

Friday night we took advantage of a free-pizza-coupon for dinner, then we headed to a tree lot to get our tree. This is the latest in the year I have ever put up a tree, and I even asked Doug on our way to the lot if we could skip having a tree this year. Nope. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE having a Christmas tree. I think I'm just a little burnt out on my go-go-go scene and preferred to not mess with it this year. But alas...

Saturday afternoon I worked on a mixed media mandala for a friend who requested one to give as a Christmas gift. I ended up finishing this (more photos in a week or so) and she picked it up Sunday. It's my first commissioned art piece like this, and she ordered another one from me - to be completed after Christmas. Gosh, I loved working with green!

I taught restorative yoga on Saturday morning, and the fun news is that the studio where I'm teaching is adding a kids yoga class right before my restorative gig, and I've been asked to lead that beginning in January. :o) I'm so excited for the opportunity to share yoga with children! Oh, and the new restorative yoga class is feeling so comfortable for me. Love. Love. Love!

Saturday afternoon...

Oh my gosh, I was so tired Saturday night! I think all the weeks of rushing and planning and doing caught up with me, and I was asleep on the couch by 7:00 p.m.!

Sunday morning I was buzzing around this house like nobody's business. I worked on decorating our tree some more (almost done) and the normal laundry and junk around here. A friend of Doug's made an impromptu visit just as we were throwing shrimp and asparagus on the grill (there's some venison in there too, but not for me). As I sat an extra plate on the table and prepared things inside, Doug called to me from outside saying, "Bring the plates out..." We ate standing near the grill as Doug pulled things off. VERY casual, and very delicious too!

Lunch was followed by an Uber ride to a local establishment where we met about 30 family members for a holiday happy hour. Doug has a really big extended family, and they are all just so sweet and fun and a great time to be with!

Last night we enjoyed the last of our firewood...as I drifted off to sleep super early again...

Yay - we're going to high country today where we'll be in the middle of nature and no big-city noises! We're even taking Lucky along so he can sniff around and roll in dirt and have a great little doggy time.

Time for me to hit the "publish" button and get myself in gear. I think I'll see if Doug will make our sandwiches...

Merry Christmas week, my friends!
Keep it safe and happy!

I hope that the trip into nature restores your spirit. This time of year can get crazy cra cra ... I think the tree decorating is the highlight of stress for me - I want it to be perfect but this year these two fur girls are teaching me a new definition of "it's not bad" - none of my other cats ever bothered with the tree, these two take off the paw shots at it, sneaky (col). Sending lots of joyful good thoughts your way & to chilly nights for a snuggle up fire.

There's something about that last photo that makes me want to curl up there ...

Dinner on the grill looks SO good! Hope you had a great time in the mountains; being away for a few hours is probably better than a nap!
