Weekend Adventures

The use of the word adventures in my post title might be a bit of a stretch, but here's my weekend recap nonetheless. :o)

It's a little tricky to take photos of yoga teacher training. I really hate to have my phone out at all, much less snapping photos, but I managed. Our group meets one weekend a month for three hours on Friday, and five on Saturday and Sunday. This next photo looks like a slumber party but I know better. There are about 25 of us and if you arrive early enough to class you get a spot along the wall. We are all fairly well spent by the end of the weekend, so this is how the center of the room looked by Sunday afternoon:

So there was yoga teacher training and it was awesome. We are still in our anatomy module and we moved a lot this weekend in ways that make sore muscles in places you might not have even guessed you had muscles. Phew. My body is sore this morning, but in a good way. I'm excited to teach my Tuesday and Wednesday evening classes this week. I have a few new tricks up my sleeve.

Doug took a much needed break this weekend and headed north to camp with his brother. Saturday night found me in my yoga/craft space starting on the wall mandala that's been swimming around in my brain.

I have the center mapped out and the first round of color so far. This is going to be an ongoing project for a while, and I'll share the progress as I go.

There was also a little of this:

I have a post scheduled for Wednesday with more photos of pumpkin mandalas. :o)

The only house settling/organizing I managed this weekend was in the backyard. I finally "unpacked" all my heart-shaped rocks that were moved in various 5-gallon buckets, unpacked all my gardening supplies and clay pots into a storage closet, and tidied up the backyard and patio as best as I could without Doug being home. That's a look at the sunset view from our new backyard space.

Our turtles are slowing down as the nights turn cooler. They'll be hibernating soon and I'm promising myself I will not fret about them this winter. {eh-hm. yeah, right...} The new habitat is working well and they are safe from Lucky-the-dog's shenanigans, but he did manage to chew/destroy the second strand of lights I had around the habitat wall. Really, Lucky?

We do love our new house and neighborhood so much. We've noticed that all of the houses surrounding us have plenty of beautiful mature trees but our backyard is barren - save for the orange tree along the side fence. We will remedy that eventually. A neighbor told us that this house has seen a fair share of residents, no one has owned this house for a long period of time. Made me feel a little sad for her, but we'll remedy that as well.

This week? More of the same. Settling in, and also planning a little Halloween fun.

Wishing you a spooky-ooky-fun-filled Halloween week, my friends.
Boo!

Glad you got a weekend off from house stuff; I'm sure that was refreshing.

Wow Deb, the pumpkin mandalas are so awesome! I can't wait to see the one in your house! I'm happy the turtles are still liking their habitat....it's hard to believe it's already time for them to hibernate again. Seems like yesterday....

I like how your kitty is in on the creating of the pumpkins, which are lovely. Glad that both you & your husband were able to relax in ways that make you happy. As the colder weather approaches I am fighting my own hibernation tenancies ... hope you have a lovely week ahead.

Mandalas take pumpkin-decorating to a whole new level! I'm going to be watching with interest :). That still sounds a very hectic weekend, with all the unpacking, garden activities and yoga. I admire your stamina!

Alexa has said it! mandalas seem made for pumpkin decorating: it's a genius combination.

If anyone can make that house feel loved, it's you

I love the pumpkin mandelas - I might actually give that a try - I'm just not into carving pumpkins as mine come out so lame. What a beautiful sunset. Sounds like Lucky is like our old dog - he would find anything to get into that he wasn't supposed to.

I'd say, organizing all of the garden "stuff" certainly qualifies as a great new house project. That's something I would probably have put off. But it has to be nice knowing that a big outside project is done.
