This week in my garden

At the beginning of this year, Doug and I were seriously considering selling our house and moving to a new neighborhood. But after seeing what was available (nothing that we liked at the time) and also after hearing me say "I don't want to move yet" about a hundred times - we decided to hold off for a while longer.

One of the things I love about this house is the backyard space we've created - the flowering shrubs and flower beds we maintain. And even though this isn't the nicest and/or fanciest house we've ever lived in, I say every day that this is the most beautiful backyard I've ever lived with. I just can't get enough of looking outside and seeing this every day!

Oh sure, I know that we can (and will) recreate something just as beautiful wherever we live, but for right now I'm just so content to be still.

The sun sets on this side of our house, streaming lovely golden-hour-light all over the place. I can never resist grabbing my camera and shooting more garden photos. My goodness, I've taken a lot of photos back there.

Last night as I came back inside with my camera, I mentioned to Doug that we might need to move soon just so that I have some new things to photograph. I mean really, how many photos do we need of my rusty-iron-turtle on that blue gate?

Or my heart rocks on dirt?

Ah, but the landscape changes a little here and there. New sunflowers are sprouting and I know this evening around 6:30 that golden-hour-sunshine will be calling my name and I'll be right back out there, snapping photos of a rusty-iron-turtle and thinking to myself, "This is the most beautiful backyard space I've ever lived with."

Most days I feel like the luckiest girl on the planet.

Your garden is gorgeous Deb. I can understand how hard it would be to leave it.

Goodness, you only just moved In - how can you want to move Out again so soon!
It's great to have a lovely garden; it can make even a plain and dull house seem like a special home.
Today I was sitting on the sofa, just after eating my lunchtime sandwich; it struck me that this is the best place to sit in the whole house. There is a wonderful view from that spot - I can see the whole garden and it looks so green and lovely, even on a rainy day, as it has been today. I felt very lucky and so glad that we took the plunge and build that new extension with the big windows.
You keep taking your garden photos - rusty turtle and all. A garden is good for the soul, Deb! XX

I don't think I've seen the rusty turtle so you can keep taking loads of photos of that pretty space and I'll be happy too!

That is a great backyard space. Beautiful blooms. I just got out in the yard yesterday planting flowers. Spring here has been virtually non-exsistant. Now it's 80 degrees.

I love seeing pictures of your garden and gorgeous flowers, Deb! As I am quite new to your blog I am happy to see the rusty turtle many more times!! It is hard to leave a garden, but then there is always the next one to enjoy :)
(So nice to see your golden sunny pictures as it has been rainy here today.)

You and Doug have done such a great job in such a short space of time ~ no wonder you enjoy it so much. It's well deserved!

Deb, creating a beautiful backyard is hard work. It's something that will take you a long time and lots of money to recreate if you move. Instead of moving, why don't you move things around a bit, group different things together, store a few old things and replace them with something new. I love your garden. You have done a fabulous job. Don't move.

I love this time of the year in the garden. My sketchbook has been calling to me, as has my camera. I'd like to spend some time out back with both. Maybe Sunday evening.

Just a few more weeks here, and we'll be able to plant in our garden. I love the views of yours each time you post them. I think I may try some sunflowers this year!

...and you made it that way :) It is beautiful and I'm sure you could apply those green fingers wherever you might go. But I can certainly see the attraction of staying put for a while longer

Haha! I always love your backyard photos. I would take or leave my house but I could NOT give up my backyard. I always say it's my favorite place on Earth. I thought of you this week because I had to write so many greeting cards for different things....and you know I was underlining away!!! Hope you have a lovely Mother's Day today....I know it's probably a day of mixed emotions....I'll be thinking of you!!! XOXOXOXOXOXO
