Officially uninvited to future parties

We have this friend whose behavior can be a little unpredictable at times. Does everyone have a friend like that? That friend that you think about long and hard before inviting them to a family gathering because you just aren’t sure they will be able to behave themselves for the duration of a party?

Well, we knew that it might be an issue, but we included him in our party invites just the same...

And there he is, our little friend Lucky, at the beginning of our nephew’s graduation party last week. Just look at him! So cute, right? All smiley and happy and the blue-eyed center of attention. Everyone loved him and he got so much love and affection during the first half of the party. But once he got a little tired – once he’d had enough – he began to nip at the heels of a couple of nephews.
And then he had the gall and audacity to bite the guest of honor – The Graduate.
Now, we think that Lucky may have been a cattle dog in his life before us, and he’s been known to be a heel nipper on a camping trip before, but he’s never nipped an ankle to the point of drawing blood like he did at the end of the party last week. And even though a balloon popped and The Graduate made a sudden move, it was still no excuse for that extreme behavior.
So unfortunately for our friend Lucky, he won’t be included in the guest list of any future parties held at our house. He’ll be sequestered to the side yard where he will be forced to listen to the party from a distance and not be privy to any falling food scraps or random head scratches.
How embarrassing. We’ll know better next time.

Whoops! I'm sure he is sorry. How could he not be with that cute little face.

Oops! I take it he is, to all intents and purposes, a "Model Citizen" on all other occasions?
Oh Lucky, fancy chomping the ankle of the Guest of Honour!

Oh Lucky, what HAVE you done? Silly boy, now you'll have to miss all the fun. I don't think those big blue puppy dog eyes are going to get you out of it this time!

rut row Lucky, this is not good, not good at all. :( I know you were tired and had probably had enough but you should have found a quiet place to escape to. Maybe they'll at least let you say hello and get a few head scratches and nibbles...of food not humans...in the future before you get banished.

Dearie me, he looks as though he knows he's in trouble!
Hope the ankle nips weren't too painful for those involved.

Poor Lucky!

(But I bet he gets a reprieve next time, towards the end of the party)

Hope the ankle is ok!

I think he'll need renaming to Unlucky :(. Hopefully after a few 'time outs' and sitting on the canine equivalent of the Naughty Step, he'll have learnt his lesson!

Oh Deb, you know I am sitting here and I can't stop laughing. I stop and then I read that first paragraph....and I laugh all over again because you know it's Clara for me. Then I just look at Lucky's ADORABLE picture and I laugh. Then I read the comments and noticed how several people mentioned how cute he is....and of course I laughed....because that is exactly what I told you everyone says about Clara!!! That's the only reason she's still alive at this point! Hee hee. I do feel bad that happened but, honestly, he could not be any cuter!!! I know it's not funny but this post just cracks me up. (I do hope your nephews are all okay!)

Oh dear me! Lucky what have you done? Somehow I don't think cuteness is going to get you out of this one. I hope all are well.

Oooops! I love the picture of you all standing around him, a bit like lots of girls standing 'round the handbags...showing my age no doubt.
