This week in my garden

Hello, lovely people who read my blog.
:o)
It's been a while since I've shared a garden post with you, so today I have some photos taken around our house this past week. It takes a while to fill up a garden space, and this is our third spring in this house. It's so much fun to see all of the plants and landscaping we've added really filling up this space - you know I love me some color!

I asked Doug to take a few photos of me planting some stuff. I shouldn't have been so surprised when I uploaded these photos and saw the happy expression on my face. Gardening really does feed my soul.

There's a little space/pathway just above the tops of the heart shaped rocks in the next photo. That's where I've planted some zinnia seeds. The package claims they are supposed to be good cutting flowers - fingers crossed! While watering last night I found two teeny tiny sprouts! :o)!!!

Bougainvillea is so popular here - they grow like weeds. Doug will say, "I need to trim that back" and I'll say, "Oh but the color is so pretty...can't we leave it for a while?"

And there's this sad but pretty little blood orange tree... The fruit never ripens and we don't have the heart to pick it all while it's still green. I know that we're supposed to pick it before the tree blossoms for the new year/crop (already been there, done that...), but it's another one of those things that I think is so pretty so I like to leave it alone. {BTW, this is not the same blood orange tree that produced oranges for the marmalade I made.}

Because no matter what, this little tree doesn't stand a chance of thriving under our gigantic eucalyptus tree. I took this next photo looking straight up through some of the leaves of the blood orange tree.

I Doug...

In our front yard the ocotillo is blooming...

...and so are the poppies. Now this is something that I think needs to be thinned out, but Doug disagrees.

So, as you can plainly see, spring has sprung in our neck of the woods.
How does your garden grow these days?

So Pretty! I haven't seen a sprout in our yard yet. Maybe soon though. I however do not have a green thumb so not much planted anyway. I'm thinking of trying a container garden at the new house.

I love those poppies - I'd love to grow a meadow of flowers if I had the space. Great to see you in your sunny and colourful garden. Enjoying spring flowers here and new leaves on teh raspberry canes

Your garden looks gorgeous!! It's about that time to start planting here. Although our last freeze date is April 15th, we can usually get by with April 1st. I'm hoping to get started this week! Thanks for the inspiration!
