Flowers in the house this weekend

Good day, blog friends.
And happy dang Monday to you.
Doug was away on a fishing trip this weekend so I was left to hold the fort down. He had a great time and came home with leftovers from camp, but no fish for the freezer. As for me? Well, I soaked in as much springtime as I could. And I picked some flowers for the house...

My blog friend, Flower Jane is hosting Flowers in the House, so I'm linking up with her today. I challenged myself to use a different vessel for my arrangement this month, and went with an old tea kettle I picked up at a yard sale many, many moons ago...

All of the flowers came from my garden which makes me all kinds of happy. I added one of my mom's doilies, sat it on top of my great-grandmother's sewing machine, and admired it the whole rest of the day. This has to be my favorite Flowers in the House moment. Ever.

I have been keeping some basil cuts in a little bottle on our kitchen window sill and on a whim I went out and snipped a few blooms from our front yard sea-of-poppies. These were some sweet eye candy for the day as well...

I set these next to the coleus that I have not only managed to keep alive for three weeks, but that is actually thriving. Yay!

This is the time of year that, if you came to Arizona, you would surely drop all future plans and start scheming a plan to move here. The climate, the blue skies, the beautiful flowers in bloom - you'd swear this is what heaven feels like.

And if you've lived a few years in Arizona, this is the time of year that you revel in - that you wish it would always be like. But there's something you don't speak of yet - something that you know is just around the corner but you do your best to just live in the moment that is early spring time.

For soon enough there will be stifling heat and you'll swear that's what hell feels like. But we won't think about that just yet!

We'll just live in the moment and soak it all in.

I loved the slow pace of this past weekend - loved sitting outside and enjoying our garden, cutting flowers and also sketching and photographing them. I was whining last night about going back to work today. It's so hard to be holed up in an office while outside is calling me! ~sigh~ Spring fever, big time.

But, duty calls so I'm off to tackle the new week.
I think I'll go outside and gather up a little handful
of flowers to have on my work desk this week.

Wishing you a week of sunshine, spring time and of course,

It is absolutely beautiful around your house. It no wonder you whined about going to work today. I love the basil and poppies in the little jar. Our grass is finally green. :) No flowers in the yard yet but I did purchase a pot of pink tulips for inside over the weekend.

Wow! what a lovely moment to live in for a while! It's just gorgeous in your garden right now. Still pretty barren here, altho little tips of things are finally poking their "noses" up to see if there is yet another storm brewing.

Your arrangement makes me happy on a rainy morning. thanks.

Beautiful, inside and out!

Love the tea kettle.

I share weather with Webb so I know what she means about the happiness your sunshine and colors have sent our way.

Some how spring in Arizona seems more more cheerful that spring in London. The daffs have finished and only one or two tulips are showing through. If only the squirrels didn't have such a fondness for bulbs!
Love that the wooden heart I sent you a few years ago is in your photos.

Your garden is looking so wonderful,Deb.....like a summer garden would look like over here.
Your indoor flower arrangement is lovely....there's nothing like flowers from your own garden.

Oh my goodness! I am ready to move to Arizona! Your garden is AMAZING. I love it. And that tea kettle! What a great arrangement! I am following you now so I can keep seeing your beautiful garden (actually, I thought I had been following you, but apparently, I hadn't). Happy spring to you.

So gorgeous---all of it! I love flowers in the house, and am anxiously awaiting the day when we'll have some in our garden to bring inside. By then, you'll be sweltering.

There is nothing nicer than flowers in the house, especially if you picked them from the garden. It has been raining (again) today so I picked a couple of blooms and along with some shop flowers spent a very happy couple of hours photographing them.

How pretty! The little copper kettle is lovely too. I can see why that is your favourite "Flowers in the House" so far - memories and also something so pretty.
I love your spring garden photos. Funny... a lot of those "spring" flowers only bloom here in the summer - our spring flowers are more hardy and robust, or else a lot smaller. I put some photos of those on my blog yesterday - very different to Arizona!

It looks absolutely beautiful, your garden, and I would indeed be moving were it possible - you have convinced me! I love the simple flowers beautifully arranged in the kettle, and the linen and the wood underneath - my Mum would have had an eye like this :).

That tea kettle is so sweet, pure Spring and boy do we need it. Everything else looks just as enticing.

Your grandmother's sewing machine and your mom's doily are the perfect complement to your pretty tea kettle bouquet! Arizona sounds delightful this time of year. Your photos were lovely!

They all look wonderful as does your garden. I love that little teakettle you're using for your flowers. As for Arizona weather, John once met the fire chief from Phoenix and he told him about it.
