I stumble to the kitchen before the sun comes up and feel my way to the stove hood where I’m able to turn a small light on. As my eyes adjust to the light, I fumble for two coffee cups, the sugar and creamer. And now a spoon. The coffee pot is still bubbling – squeezing out those last few drops to make a full pot, but I’m in no mood to wait this morning. I yank the coffee pot out of its resting place and fill cups for Doug and me as the remaining drops of coffee drip and sputter onto the burner.
As I lift my cup off the counter I hear the sound of Doug's house slippers shuffling in the hallway so I wait for him. He joins me and we clink our cups together in an early morning toast to us. "Good morning," we softly mumble to each other.
And with that first sip of the day, all is well in Coffee Town.

Such a lovely moment :)
For cute. <3
A moment rich and redolent with scent - I can almost taste the coffee from here :). I admire anyone who can drink coffee first thing in the morning - it's usually elevenses before I can manage any, though I adore the smell. Lovely glimpse into your and Doug's morning, and thank-you so much for joining in and contributing this month again :). Always lovely to see you.
I love the "clink" of the cups to start the day. Sweet!
I can just picture it. I like the coffee "toast" in the morning!
A lovely start to the day.
...and I can smell the coffee brewing! Many more great starts to your days!
Cheers~
There really is something special about that first drink of the day isn't there?
Lovely moment! I'm actually a fan of early morning, and definitely a fan of that first cup of coffee.
It's funny, scent was the first impression I had too however, at our place, I am the quiet one in the morning and TE is peskily perky!
Hmm, that lovely coffee smell! Great moment :)
Great moment, I could see you both so clearly!
What a gorgeous way to start your day together.
A simple but lovely moment beautifully told Deb.
The little teal bow went in the post today. x
Doesn't the coffee smell wonderful as you walk down the hall?! I would welcome a cup and it would definitely be a mumbled "good morning" from me.
What a sweet loving moment!
