Oh happy Monday, my friends.
♥
I know there are some of you heading back to work and school today after a glorious holiday break. Bummer, right? Although I suppose it's all in how you look at it, as with many things. Only a small handful of my co-workers were in the office with me last Thursday and Friday, but today the whole gang will be back. To everything there is a season, and today it's back to work!
Speaking of seasons, we had sunshine this wintery weekend...
Ah, but this weekend was not for wimps! I had a ton of stuff to do - like preparations for my sister-in-law's baby shower in California this weekend...
Saturday evening we headed out to Doug's dad's for dinner and we enjoyed a lovely evening with my in-laws. Dang you guys, they are such awesome people! I'm still practicing with my mom's yeast roll recipe, and I think I've just about got it down. This was my fifth try and it's true what they say - practice does make perfect {so be careful what you practice}.
It was really cool that my SIL {hi Meta} made her mom's bread pudding recipe {yum!} and I loved that she referred to my bread as "Marti's rolls." {ugh! I miss my mom!!!}
A sweet friend of my father-in-law's had sent a large tray of cookies for us to divvy up. Yummy treats and such beautiful presentation.
More busy work yesterday, but a break in the afternoon for some chili-cheese-fries, a cold beer and a football play-off game. I watched the game for as long as it took to polish off the plate of fries with Doug, and then I was off and running. I had a little shopping to do {fun! missed you, Carrie!} then back home for laundry and more baby shower prep.
Sheesh - that was a weekend of some heavy food and a bit of alcohol. No wonder my body is dragging this morning! Whiskers' expression sums it up...
Alight, my friends. It's time for me to hit the yoga mat and prepare for the day ahead. I wonder what's in the cards for me today... I know it's not shrimp ravioli with cream sauce, Christmas cookies, Marti's rolls, PJ's bread pudding, and chili cheese fries. Or chianti or cold beer.
Hoping for willpower to avoid the work kitchen donuts this morning...
Have an awesome week, everyone!

sounds a fabulous, warm weekend, have a great week - I'm just about to cover a polystyrene ball with felt and buttons which made me think of you the button queen
What a lovely weekend you had - other than the too much wine incident! Back at work today :0(
Sounds like a busy fun weekend. No work here today. We were asked to stay off the roads due to 10.5 " of snow and -13 temps today.
It looks like you had a wonderful weekend! I hope you have a great week x
Sounds like a fun weekend to me! Even with the wine incident.
I'm back to work tomorrow :-( I feel sulky already!
sounds like a great weekend! (And yes, the blog is back up and running!)
I'm back to work tomorrow. Sigh. But I've had a really great break. Today is for photography, book group and sending Christmas cards (yes, really).
Love the pix of Whiskers jay.

What a lovely weekend! We are heading back to normal(ish), one more day of holiday before school starts on Wednesday, The Boy Child's birthday on Thursday and class visit to the Panto on Friday.
I stepped on the scale this morning and almost passed out. Glad I'm not the only one who was enjoying herself this weekend. Love the photo of Whiskers Jay (only his full name will do for me, you know!)! I can't wait to see pictures from the Baby Shower!!! Fun, fun.
You have been busy! have missed visiting your blog. Forgive me, just a few too many obligations of late. But I'm back on the blogging saddle and looking forward to catching up. Happy New Year.
lol I was thinking that last glass at home was going to push you over.
What a busy weekend you had! The expression on the cat in the last picture is wonderful! We had a very quiet weekend as it was the last one of the holidays for my parents. Lots of sitting by the log fire playing games!
Sounds like a fun, but busy weekend! Hope the baby shower goes well next weekend :)
Sounds like a fun weekend. Oh my does that ravioli look delicious and it's so nice seeing flowers in a winter garden - ours is buried in snow.
