From my mom's kitchen

For as long as I can remember, my mom used these blue Pyrex bowls. She measured and mixed in them, stirred in them, and served meals in them. The fact that they survived two teenaged girls taking turns washing dishes, many house moves, and then a recent journey to Arizona is something just short of a miracle.

And I hadn't noticed until I uploaded these photos that the smaller bowl appears to be stained. My mother would either be mortified, or she'd blame it on the fact that two teenaged girls were responsible for washing them. Or maybe both. ;o)

I brought these home with me last year and have yet to actually use them. It seems silly that I'm afraid to use them for fear of breaking them, as I suppose they are rather indestructible given their history.

Gosh, I love these bowls - love the color and the history they hold. And now that they belong to me, I have this crazy notion to redecorate our next kitchen around this color scheme.* Funny they happen to be light teal...
* Don't worry, Doug, I won't.

They really are the most beautiful colour..I'd love a kitchen in that shade! maybe it's their time now to be admired instead of used?

Wow it's been years since I've seen those bowls. We had them growing up to but I don't think they survived. I do however have a Pyrex oval baking dish in that color.

They are beautiful bowls and it makes perfect sense to decorate your kitchen around them :)

Love them, and the story behind them. Kitchens have been decorated around FAR worse themes/colors. You're choosing something you love for someone you love. Sounds perfect to me!

Pyrex are very durable. I received some as a wedding gift 23 years ago and they still look good as new. How ironic that beautiful teal color? I'm sure your mother would want you to enjoy using them.

C'mon, Deb, use them! They are such a beautiful colour and deserved to have their history added to.

Beautiful shade - and so appropriate :). I have never seen Pyrex that colour. Perhaps they could take pride of place in a new kitchen?

What a gorgeous colour they are and I too have never seen Pyrex that colour. My first design job, after leaving Uni was working for Corning - the makers of Pyrex in their Sunderland factory!
