A bit about my weekend...

Monday, Monday, can't trust that day.
Monday, Monday, sometimes it just works out that way.
This Monday morning begins in a jumbled mix of emotions for me as last week ended with some work drama that sort of followed me throughout my weekend. We had a "workforce reduction" on Friday and let four people go, and I hated having to be involved in that. I work in a small office where I wear many hats, and much to my chagrin "Human Resources" is one of them. I know that those who lost their jobs will be just fine in the long run, but it was awful to have to bear witness to someone being forced to change directions. Did.Not.Like.That. At all.

Two of the co-workers who left were such good work friends to me so that made it even harder. I know they have furry friends at home, so I hope this weekend they found comfort in them the way I did with my Lucky dog.

And I hope Saturday's sunshine was soothing to their souls...

Every other day, every other day of the week is fine...yeah...
But whenever Monday comes...

And on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, yesterday found me in the sweet company of my blog friend, Alison. Alison is originally from Scotland, but resides in Spain these days, and we first met last year when Carrie and I traveled to England and she joined us in London for the weekend. We drank a margarita in London and the weather was super cold at the time. We vowed to have another margarita in the sun next time, and yesterday we did just that.

I loved having lunch outside with Alison and our guys ~ just so awesome. This was our lunch view...

I'd had plans to show Alison the downtown Phoenix area, but the annual PFChang's Marathon was in full swing and there were lots of road closures around the valley. So instead we spent a little time at my house, I baked a batch of cookies for her to take back to her hotel, and we managed a little shopping in downtown Chandler. A stop at a favorite coffee shop provided a fun surprise when two of my nephews popped in. I love that they sat and visited with Alison and me for a while. ♥ ♥

And now Monday morning brings a clean slate and a chance to make our way through another week. I have to believe there's going to be some good stuff in the mix.

Monday, Monday, so good to me.
Monday, Monday, it was all I hoped it would be...

I hope your week is a very good one Deb!

It was very nice to see you and Alison sitting with your margheritas in hand! It made me want to have one myself yesterday!

Sorry you had to be a part of letting some people go. I'm I the same position at work...no fun. Luckily you had Lucky and a blog friend to soften the blow. Have a good week.

Sorry Deb! That has to be so hard. I'm glad you got to mix some happy things in there too. LOVE the view, and the gorgeous citrus tree shot!

It's a shame that your weekend started on a sour note but fantastic that you got to spend time with the lovely Alison x

I'm happy that you and Alison got to meet up again (and more than a little jealous) but sad about how things are at work for you right now.

What a mix of very good, and very bad things over the space of a few days. I am so happy to see pictures of you and Alison together again sharing (rather large!) margaritas!

Watching people have to leave is so hard. Fortunately I've never had to actually DO it, but I can imagine how difficult it must be---especially in a small business. Having Allison visit certainly was the perfect antidote! Love seeing all your sunshine!

Blogger just "ate" a long comment; I hate when that happens! Anyhow, I was commiserating with you on the job front. But thank goodness for Allison's visit---a perfect antidote.

Deb, you are such a sweet soul. I'm sure your friends felt your caring, even as you said good-bye. I can only imagine how well Doug and Craig got along, even though I've never met Doug. We all fell in love with Craig. Glad to be able to comment again; my browser was acting up earlier this week.
