Phoenix Graffiti Art

Today I have photos! Lots of photos of graffiti/wall murals in the downtown Phoenix area. For my locals who are curious, these photos were taken near Roosevelt between 2nd and 8th Streets. It's so cool to drive (or walk) around in this part of town. It seems like every time you turn a corner there's a different painting to admire. Check it out...

My favorite painting of the day was this wall of sunflowers, and I even really love the contrast of the fence in front of it.

And I was pleasantly surprised to come across this - two young men giving this abandoned building a little facelift. Look closely and you'll see a man in a red shirt on the top ledge, and also two little boys in the lower left picking up trash. I love that this is a community project that serves to create a more pleasant view for the residents there.

Aren't these fantastic? These works of art are regularly changed up from time to time and were new to me since the last time I walked around this part of town.

I wonder, do you have anything like this near your home?

Fantastic photos. I love proper graffiti but absolutely hate the mindless vandals who can't appreciate talent and just spray their tags everywhere. It's grey and drab here today and your pictures have really brought some colour to the day :D

Love it! We have a few places around town with some nice graffiti but its scattered around and now in one general area. I agree with Jo on the mindless vandals.

As you can imagine....I love the wall of sunflowers as well.
We do have a few commissioned pieces of street art in our town [and a well protected Banksy on the beach]....but not a lot....nothing like your wonderful selection.

If we have it, I know nothing about it. These paintings are amazing! It might be considered graffiti but it takes some talent to make them look that good!!!

No graffiti here in the 'burbs! Some fun art that you got to enjoy. The sunflowers were my favorites too!

No, we don't have anything like this near me although some parts of the city are famous for their political murals..which are not so nice to look at! Closer to home, there has been a big fight over the city council's decision to paint over graffitti about a famous local band. They are going to have to pay someone to paint it back because everyone has made such a fuss!

It's been too long since you did a graffiti walk. Love the praying mantis.

Goodness, I wish London's graffiti looked like that!

Nothing as beautiful as these Deb. I'm with Rinda on the favourite.

The sunflowers (as well as the grasshopper) are by Isaac Caruso. He was commissioned to do that. Most of the current downtown murals now have been commissioned.

wow - love the bright colours and range of styles and subject. Nothing like that around here, unfortunately

These are fantastic, and your post reminds me that we do indeed, have mural art in our area, and it's been on our "to-walk-to" list for some time. We'd better get on it before it gets too nasty!

No, we don't have anything like this where I live but I've heard they do in Toronto (I just don't go there much anymore). These is nice graffiti, not at all like the stupid graffiti you see around.
