Our Backyard in Early Fall

Man, after yesterday's post I almost feel like I just need to put some photos on here without words and call it good. But I am my mother's daughter, and she did love herself some words. Haha - a lot of them most days. ;o)  Anyway, thanks for the love you left for me in the comments! Now for a bit lighter fare...

It seems like the past several weekends have been busy to the point that I haven't puttered around in my garden so much - I definitely need to get out there this weekend and take care of pruning a few plants. I love that we have some plants established that provide lots of color, and it's awesome now that the weather has cooled down a bit. We get to be outside enjoying this space more often!

The tree we replaced at the beginning of this year {that Lucky and Carrie's dog, Marcus dug up one time, and that Lucky tunneled under another time} has finally taken hold and has yellow blooms on it. We are so happy about this! Big kudos to Douglas for all the replanting and measures taken to keep this tree in dirt!

Note to self: plant vincas in a pot next August and water every day. They love living on our patio table!

...and vincas don't do too shabby in the ground during late summer either.

I think we missed our window of opportunity for pesto this year. This next photo was taken a few days ago, before some worm or something ate the majority of my basil plant. Bummer.

Love that our neighbor on the other side of our backyard fence flies a flag in his backyard. {Thanks, Hank.}

Now that the weather is pleasant {especially in the evenings} I'm itching to have a party in our backyard - because the only thing that could make this spare better is to be sharing it with friends.

I just love this time of year in Arizona.
What about you? Are you enjoying cooler temps
and looking forward to fall the way I am?
I really need to bake something with pumpkin soon...

a party in your beautiful backyard sounds fabulous. I'm learning to love fall through the eyes of blogfriends - have never liked it really as it marks the end of summer and the onset of short daylight hours

You have a lovely yard. Love the tree, what kind is it? I will also have to remember to try vincas in a pot, mine did not do good....at all. It probably has something to do with my not so green thumb. I love this time of year...its my favorite.

That pot of flowers on the table is so pretty! Just let us know when the party is and we'll be right over! Ha. Sounds good, right? I wish that were true.

I'll be putting up a post tomorrow about fall in our area. What a difference there is! But our weather has been simply fabulous and I'm thrilled with every nice day we have. Your garden is gorgeous. Mine is dying. (No photos of that tomorrow.)

Your garden is looking lovely. We spent last weekend tidying ours up for the winter! Nearly everything is passed its best and it was a case of pruning and cutting everything back. We are definitely not sitting in the garden now - too rainy and chilly!

Your backyard is just so lovely, I love the flowers and the colour. Arizona seems like such a beautiful place - my aunt lived there for about five years with her fiancee (now husband) about ten years ago, and I remember my Dad visiting and just loving the place :D

It was lovely to have a 'wander' round your garden, it's made me realise how lacking in colour my own garden is :)

Your garden looks great Deb. Do you wait till the blast furnace of summer is over before you plant the vincas?
