Sun, Flowers, Music, Ocean Air Market

Also sunflowers, family, and item number one on Rinda's Summertime Scavenger Hunt

#1 - An Open Air Market

We have some local farmer's markets on the weekends in Arizona, but this time of year it's just too hot to get real excited about. You definitely have to hit them early in the morning as they fold up by 9 or 10:00 a.m.

Anyway, I've been holding out on searching for a local market for Rinda's photography scavenger hunt because I knew we'd be visiting this one in the Little Italy district in San Diego.

It was wonderful to be there! The weather was so refreshing for us, and if you looked down the street, over the top of the crowd, beyond the palm trees, you could see the ocean. ~sigh~ Dang, I love San Diego.

When I made plans to meet up with my step-siblings who live in San Diego, we found out that my step-brother, Steve, would actually be performing at the farmer's market on the day we planned to visit. Don't you love stuff like that? He's the one on guitar, and it was so much fun to sit and hear him play, see the crowd react to his music, and be reminded of the sweet way our two families are blended. {Another blog post for another time.}

Ah. So much fun. Some of our best times together have been when Steve and my brothers have had their guitars out.

Later that day we met up with the rest of the family and had a nice dinner at The Fish Market near the USS Midway. I was pleasantly surprised to see this sculpture there - it was really cool to see! I took a few photos and plan to use my favorite for my quote this Friday.

Such a fun time! These photos make me want to be back there all over again.

During dinner when the subject of my camera being out of commission came up, my SIL Sandy gasped and said, "What about your photography scavenger hunt?!?!" Haha - made me laugh and it also touched me to know that she keeps up with me through my blog. {Hi Sandy!} Fortunately my phone has a decent camera, and hopefully my camera will be fixed or replaced soon. Either way, I have high hopes for finishing the scavenger hunt strong!

I've seen several bloggers who have already found
all 21 items on the scavenger hunt list.
Are you playing along with Rinda?

Love your market shot and so pleased that you get on with your step-siblings so well. I am playing along - only a couple more to get now - hoping to get out and about this weekend! Love the photo of the sculpture!

Love this post!
That statue is enormous - you don't realize it until you see the size of the people around it.
Fingers crossed on the camera fixing. Thank goodness for phones with cameras eh?

fun post! I love a good farmers market! Do the ones by you last most of the year? Ours are only for a few months.

The sunflowers are lovely. Can't wait to see more of that statue. I'm getting there on the hunt but a few things are alluding me. Animal in a nature reserve?! I'm totally stuck!

Excellent shots Deb and testament to the fact that phones and iPads really have great cameras within them.
I love family weekends!

What great pictures - and that's without your good camera! I'm thinking I need another San Diego fix after reading this and the one before.
