This Weekend in my Garden

And just like that, it's Monday morning once again.
Greetings, blog friends. Welcome to yet another installment of my weekend recaps. I had a great weekend that included dinner with Doug on Friday, a trip to Scottsdale Fashion Square for shopping with Carrie on Saturday, and a few projects around my craft room and garden finally being completed. I'll share my blog friend mini-book with you tomorrow, but for today we're hanging in the garden...

A few weeks ago, Doug made the most clever little fence for my garden. Two things kept me from planting new flowers right away: 1) I wanted to make sure that the fence really would keep our digging dog out; and 2) it was too hot to be outside playing in my garden. And not that we've had a cold front come through or anything, but the temperature was tolerable in the early morning hours.

This fence opens in the middle and I can swing it open and out of the way, making it easy to get to my garden. I love it!

I planted a new tomato plant in an area that gets less direct sunlight, and some new flowers to fill in the holes.

Carrie will be mortified that I'm sharing this next photo, but this is one of my favorite garden decorations. I got it years ago in Bisbee, Arizona and it's either one of those things you get, or you don't get. Doug doesn't get it either, but I just love this crazy gal.

My basil is finally doing something! I'm predicting pesto in August...

And now we set our sights on the upcoming week.
It looks to be another busy one for us - filled with a few obligations,
a bit of good times, and the promise of no little dog digging in my garden.
Here's wishing you a happy one!

Looks like your garden is doing great! We are getting tomatoes, but it's so hot they're turning colors before they get big enough. Oh well... at least they're still yummy!

Crazy gal has loads of character, and that's a great piece of fencing you've got there, guarding your pretty planting. Mmm, pesto!

Your garden looks fantastic (especially considering the temperatures you get). My tomato plants are doing well but need to be planted up - something to do this week I think! Tips on growing basil would be good - I tried planting seeds but nothing came up. Do you plant seeds or buy seedlings? Sunny position or shade? Any tips greatly appreciated ;-) (green fingers I have not!!). xx

Your sign definitely makes me smile! We did a lot of work on the garage project this weekend; hope to finish it soon. Plus Henry and I had a ton of fun at a graduation party Saturday night (but I won't be sharing those pictures any time soon!!!).

I am very disappointed that Rinda is being coy about her partying photos!

We were reminiscing about our girls antics in the garden last night - it is all too easy to forget her youthful exuberance and joy of eating our plants and burying her bones, here's hoping Lucky respects the fence!

I too am sad about Rinda's photos! I want to see!

Hooray that there was a good solution to your naughty dog!

Your garden is lovely. Our community garden plot is not doing as well as usual, and we're trying to figure out why. The plants in pots at home are doing much better. I have three little white eggplants we'll be able to pick in just a few days.

Your little garden is looking lovely, I like the sign too! and another one who would love to hear about Rinda's night 'on the tiles'. The fence looks like a great idea, lets hope the digging dog finds another hobby.
