Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt

Happy Wednesday, everyone!
Today I'm linking up with my friend, Rinda, and giving you a little update on some of the items I've found and photographed for her annual Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt. I'm sharing six items today and all of these photos have been edited in Instagram.

Item #2 - Theater for performing arts:
This is Grady Gammage Auditorium on the campus of Arizona State University. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright to be as acoustically perfect as possible, and I'd like us to all take a moment and remember that this is where I breathed the same air as Donny Osmond. {sigh} And on the complete other side of the spectrum, Carrie also wants me to mention that looking down on this building from the air, it's said to look like a toilet bowl.

Item #5 - A Sunset
We have our share of beautiful sunsets in Arizona during the summertime, so I will have to narrow this one down when coming up with my final choice for item number five. This one with my sweet sunflower in the foreground just may make the cut.

#6 - Someone or something taking a nap
Man, I love this cat.

#12 - A cloud in the shape of something:
If I make it through this summer's scavenger hunt without tripping and hurting myself because I'm looking skyward for a cloud in the shape of something it will be a small miracle! I did find this shark shape last month {the pointy thing is supposed to be his fin}, but I'm still on the lookout for a cloud shape I like better.

#17 - A candle
We lit this candle on July 4th in honor of Doug's mother's birthday. PJ was such an awesome lady, and it's sweet to remember her on the fourth of July.

#20 - A dinosaur
Driving along, minding my own business, when what do I see? A dinosaur!!! I had to turn around and take a few pictures of this guy. I could also count this as #9 {a photo of something that is out of place} and #13 {a fence} but that might be considered cheating.

That's it for this round. So far I have 10 out of the 21 items on the scavenger hunt list, but I'm not freaking out about the remaining 11. Yet. I have plans to capture a bunch of them next weekend when Doug and I take a little road trip.

Are you playing along with the photography scavenger hunt?

Carrie's comment about the theater was my first laugh of the day! I love the sunset shot with the sunflower silhouetted in front.

I bet Donny has happy memories of that auditorium too (the time he almost met Deb Turtle!)
Love that sunset shot, I think that may be the winner of that category.

Great photos Deb, I too like the sunset. It took me a while to see the shark.

I see the shark, but know what you mean about looking for a shape you like better - I passed on a lot of those that just weren't up to my standards. LOVE love L.O.V.E. that sunset shot!!!

I saw the shark straight away! Carrie's comment about the theatre really made me laugh! Love your sunset photos - I have taken so many that I am finding it hard to chose! I have only shown two on my blog, but have so many more on my camera. Off to photograph the windmill in the next few days.

Oh a sunset with a sunflower - two favourite things.

My friends in AZ comment on the cloudless skies too, I see your shark but understand the want/need for a better one.

Donny Osmond and a toilet bowl, eh? There's many a phrase I could put together using those two words, but I'll be kind ...
Beautiful sunset photo.

I think cats are the best napper in the world!!
My favorite is your sunset with the sunflower - so beautiful. And I can see the shark - you "fin" has been very helpful. This shark looks like he is on a hunt. Better watch out.

Jealous of your sunset, but my favorite shot is the candle.
LOVE it!

p.s. I found a perfect cloud for you. I'll be posting in on Monday.

I don't think there was any thing in the rules that said you couldn't find 3 items in 1 shot?? Have to check with Rinda on that one. Love the dinosaur, so odd and out of place like you said.

Hello Deb. I just think your sunset picture is stunning. The cloud is fun. I like the reason for the candle. Thank you for stopping by and for your real encouragement.

Oh Carrie!

Love your sunset Deb and I'm with Rinda - your candle shot is a favourite of mine.

So giggling along with you about the clouds, the kids are still yelling at me to stop the car because they are SURE they can see xyz in a cloud. I stop, usually, and can't see a thing!

Great sunset shot. And I was thinking the architecture was interesting on that theatre - I would never have recognised it as by Frank Lloyd Wright.

What a gorgeous sunset! I still haven't got one and it sure doesn't look like I'll get one today either - totally clouded over.
