Tea for Two (or more!)

Hello, everyone!
Today I’m linking up with my sweet blog friend Abi
for her monthly chat over a cuppa. So if you were really
here at my house, here’s how it might go down…

I'd invite you in quickly ~

Come in from the heat! Lucky, stay back…it’s ok… So sorry… Lucky, get back! {sigh}  I’m in the middle of making cookies, so come on into the kitchen while I finish mixing this batch.

Who are the cookies for, you ask? They're for my step-dad, Rod. He's on his way to Arizona as we speak this morning. He’s coming for a quick visit today, and bringing the collection of items that my sister and I set aside from our mom’s personal belongings back in January. I’m emotional about the thought of receiving these things into our home, and also excited to have these bits of my mom incorporated into my own belongings.

Are you doing much crafting lately? Wow – I am. I seem to be in a creative frenzy with several projects going on at the moment as well as several in the pipeline (aka: my head). I’m promising myself that I will not start sewing this quilt I have in mind until my blog-friend-mini-book is complete. Believe me, once I start on the quilt, all other projects will be temporarily pushed aside!

Aw, thanks for asking about my sweet little garden. You know, the Arizona heat and our digging dog have definitely taken their toll, but I’d love to show you the sunflowers that are just about to burst. These are my favorites – grown from seeds and highly photographed.

Hey, how are you doing with Rinda's Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt? I'm taking it slow and steady, turtle style. So far I have six of the 21 items, with a potential three more that I'm holding out on for a better photo opp. Like this airplane (item #4) flying over us... They come from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix - the one you flew in to this morning. ;o) And just how am I supposed to find a cloud shaped like something in this clear Arizona sky?!?!

Oh, what’s that I hear? The kitchen timer? Ah, cookies are done… C'mon, I’ll bundle up a few for you to take along with you.

Oh and here - since you're on your way to Abi's, take a few for her as well.

Thanks for visiting me this morning!
Don’t be a stranger…

Thanks for stopping for tea with me today Deb. I hope that receiving those items of your mum will be a positive experience. Thinking of you.

I totally get what you mean about several projects on the go. My head is definitely my best drawing board for new ideas! I am the same when i start a quilt too. Everything else goes out of the window!

I would love one of those cookies and just because you offered me one I think I might find something similar in my house!

Those cookies look lovely! Wish I could have come and had a cup of tea at your house when we were over there last year! Perhaps one day! I hope that you have an enjoyable visit with Rod and that holding those items of your Mum's will be comforting.

I have several projects on the go too - two on the table and about 6 in my head! Wish I had more time to get on with them all!

I have ZERO willpower when it comes to homemade chocolate chip cookies, so thanks, I'll take that stack with me... but don't bother to wrap them up, they won't last the ride home! Enjoy your visit with Rod. And I hope you get lots of time to work on your projects. I'm visiting Sarah in D.C. this weekend, so I won't be working on projects at all.

You know I can't resist a cookie! It will be lovely to see Rod again and I am sure that although there will be mixed emotions about the things he brings, in time they will bring you nothing but comfort as you see and use things that have happy memories.
Aha! We have finally found a benefit of living in a British summer, no problems finding a cloud ;-) our problem is finding a patch of blue to break it up into a picture!

Man, it's a scorcher in your neck of the woods! Not sure even with AC if I would be baking although I need to for my care packages. I know you will have a nice visit with Rod and that slowly you will fond the perfect ways to incorporate your Mom's things into your home (((hugs)))

Thank you for tea and delicious cookies this morning Deb. Your flowers are just so pretty, in fact your kitchen is so bright and cheerful it felt like a mini break! Hope the receiving of mums things will be OK for you, I think the anticipation will be much worse than the items coming to stay with you.

What a nice way to start my day! Enjoy the visit from Rod! The cookies look great, but I'll have to pass. We've had dessert two nights in a row. Unheard of, and not good for the scale!

I have a cousin that lives in Arizona. She lives in Cottonwood. No idea where that is in relation to Phoenix, perhaps I should get that map out of the drawer and take a look. I love the cookies and accept them with huge thanks.

Hope the visit with Rod went well, and that you are finding places for your mom's pieces..I know it will be a bittersweet experience for you. One day I'm coming over to taste these cookies for real!

Those sunflowers are beautiful and just the cheer I need on this winter morning where I live. Sadly doing a summer hunt here in NZ is difficult too as we have so much fog we can't even see the sky to get any cloud shapes, hopefully I have my camera at the ready on the day there is no fog. Thanks for the invite to tea do so love catching up with everyone thanks to Abi

Thank you for the cookies dear friend! They look sooo good. I'll be posting my chat on Monday. I almost opened up the box of Lladros that I got from my mom after she passed away. Maybe after I finish up the big clean-up that I'm doing, I'll put them up. We'll see.
