This and That on Thursday

Good day, blog friends.
And happy Thursday to you!

Random #1: Amy left a comment yesterday about how different my blog looks since I've been posting photos of my trip to England with Carrie. She's so observant, that Amy, and I had been thinking the exact same thing! Since I live in Arizona, my photos are usually of sunshine and lots of color, whereas the week we were in England was a bit darker and more muted - beautiful in its own way, but just different from my norm.

So, here's a little dose of my regular fare ~ random ramblings and photos of our backyard, wrapped in sunshine with a dog in the background. Funny - it's still feels strange to say that there's a dog in the mix around here!

Random #2: Lately we've been talking about selling our house and moving to a new neighborhood. We knew when we downsized and came to this house that it would be temporary. Our situation has changed and it does make sense to move on, but I'm kind of attached to this little space. I'm trying to convince Doug that we should stay for one more year...

Random #3: This pretty flowering shrubbery that is genetically engineered to bloom in Arizona State University colors. It's called "Sparky" after ASU's mascot - same nickname I have for Carrie's dog Marcus. Sometimes he just looks like "Sparky the Dog" to me.

Random #4: These vintage telephone pole insulators that I have taken about 1,000 photos of over the years. I love them! Especially when sunlight is shining through them. I googled "glass telephone pole toppers" because I wasn't sure what their proper name was, and now I am even more in love with them than I was before. Check out the images of other colors that exist, and the clever way that others have displayed and photographed them {click here for images}. Love!!!

And speaking of love:

And that's it for me this morning.
I hope your day is filled with random bits of happy.

Seems like you've been doing a lot of work to get this home the way you like it - would be a shame not to get to enjoy it! But then, if your real estate market is anything like ours, now is a good time to buy!

She is observant that Amy! Now I notice it! How lucky you are to have lots of sunny pictures! I am fed up of our grey spring! Your photos are beautiful as always!

Such bright colours in your garden and cheering to see - as Abi says, our Spring is still mostly grey. I hope you come to a place between you where you are happy to go or happy to stay ... I wasn't sure whether new neighbourhood meant new state/city as well, or just a shift to the other side of town. And those telephone pole insulators are so pretty.

Lovely photos, such bright cheery colours! I love those glass toppers; our telephone cables go underground so you would never get them here. You'll know when the time is right to move on. I'm guessing it will be when you've taken on at least one more cat/turtle/dog ...

A little pop of colour does go a long way Debs. Your dog is adorable I want to come and tickle his ears. The sun has actually come out this afternoon and all of a sudden the world looks gorgeous,

All those flowers makes me wish I had a green thumb. They are beautiful. Did not know those pole insulators came in so many different colors.

Love the glass telephone toppers but especially love that happy face at the end of your post.

We can surely use all the bright colors of today's posts here. Although the sun is shining now, it's made quite brief appearances this month. I'm anxiously awaiting warmer temperatures as well. LOVE your flowers.

Phew! I can recognise where I am again now!

Moving sounds like a lot of fun - I dare say you'll both know when the time is right ... are you on the lookout already?

I spent last weekend looking around the garden, it seems all our blood red flowers come out at once, got some lovely photos - love your dog too!

I can't believe you're thinking about moving! You've done such a great job turning this house into a home. But I'm sure you and Doug will do what's right for your family.
Off to check out the phone topper pix.

It seems you just got the house and gardens the way you want but that always seems the way doesn't it? Good luck with whatever the 2 of you decide. I'd never paid any attention whatsoever to those telephone insulators. I'll have to pay more attention now. They are such neat colours. Love the picture of Lucky at the end.
