We were invited to my father-in-law's house for a Super Bowl party and I asked what I could bring. "Nothing," was his standard reply, "I have plenty of food for everyone!"
Mm-hmm. I've heard that before. My sweet father-in-law does well in the meat department - he had more than enough of that. But sides and appetizers and desserts? That's where his daughters-in-law {my SILs and I} come in.
Only this time it was just me. I brought this appetizer cheesy bread, and two other guest's wives brought salads. And we had meat. And fun. :o)
I've seen this on the internet in a few places, and I'm not sure who to give credit to - so if it's your own personal invention, let me know and I'll link to you! It's a great idea, and went over really well - like, it was gone within a few minutes of coming out of the oven. {Note to self: make two next time!}
A loaf of bread, cut into one inch slices once/twice across but not all the way through the bottom of the loaf. You want it to remain held together on the bottom. Then I tucked grated cheddar cheese, some diced Canadian bacon, and a small amount of finely chopped red onion into the cuts. Wrap in foil and bake at 350° until the cheese is melted - 20-30 minutes depending on thickness of the bread. Pull apart with a fork and enjoy!
Yummy!

TSYO isn't here this afternoon to comment on your, once again, fabulous photos ... she'd be more interested in getting me to make that bread!
Sounds delicious and I think I may have to make it at the weekend when I make a batch of soup.
That looks yummy, one I might have to try when it's brain time again x
I'm sure they all gobbled that up!
The best part (only good part for me) about football parties is the food!
Yum! Just yum! And versatile, too, I bet.
