Around Our House

Hello, sweet blog friends.

Thank you for your lovely comments on my last post. Doug and I had a nice break from work, and this morning finds us rushing about the house, getting ready to head our separate ways and back to our respective work routines. And me on the computer because I have a few spare minutes. {Yes, I already did my morning yoga.}

I mentioned to Doug that the past 11 days went by faster than any other 11 days in my entire life. He laughed. I told him I felt like I hadn't accomplished anything during our break from work, and he reminded me that we had time to relax - something he values and embraces better than I ever do.

I spent a big part of the past couple of days printing photos and slamming them into my Project Life binder. I hadn't printed any photos since mid-October, so some catching up was in order. I made it through our Thanksgiving photos and all that's left are the last five weeks of 2012 to print and document. And in the meantime, the self-talk that goes like this: "January 2nd and I'm already behind on 2013's Project Life" has started. Why do I do that to myself?!?!

In fact, I've noticed that with all the time off work that I've had, I have managed to do an awful lot of thinking. There's just so much I want to do - so many crafting and photo projects bouncing around in my head - but alas, this life has given me other responsibilities to tend to.

Who ever made up that stupid rule, "work before play?"
I'm really irritated with them right now.

Anyway, I did manage to take a few photos while I was hanging around the house this past week. They are just some random shots that I plan to use in my 2013 Project Life album to document the way things are around here at the moment.

Randomness that doesn't seem like a great blog post = 20 minutes.
Reaching out and taking part in this online community = limitless benefits.
One day at a time, Deb. One day at a time...

Oh I love this post Deb. I love glimpses into other people's homes and lives. 2012 was certainly challenging for you but you got through it, even though at times you thought you wouldn't. I really hope 2013 is all that you wish for and more.

that "work before play" rule sucks! And it has priorities backwards. So what if the house is dusty and the floors need mopping... enjoy your creative inspiration when it strikes!

Any sort of random is good as far as I am concerned! So looking forward to 2013 for reasons only you know :)

Hi Debs,
I'm Rhona's sister and I always look at your blog via her blog. One of the things I am going to do this year is post comments on blogs I am following. I know how nice it is when people take time to respond, even if it's just to say Hi!

So Hi and I enjoy reading your posts. Happy New Year :)

Being a very random blogger, I love the randomness but pray tell what is in that white container because if it's edible I am scared!!! ;)

Haha - are you talking about my little carrot sprouts in the white tray, Beverly? They WERE edible, but now they are just going to be cute. :o)

Random is just fine, and your photos tell a story themselves! I remember the day I decided to retire. I said to myself, "This job is interfering with my life!" I had put in 37 years at that point, and for the first time ever I was really ready to leave. This post brought so much of that back to me.

Carrot tops? Really? I went back and had another look and they KINDA look like they used to be carrots but the bottoms seem too jelly like. Are you growing more carrots from them? Great photos by the way. Happy New Year! x

I love the randomness of this post and the little peek into your life. Thanks for mentioning the carrot tops - I was thinking that was what they were.
