Around Here ~ January 2013

Hello, friends.

Even though our temps have been frreeeeezing cold, we still have stuff blooming in our backyard.

You're like, "Yeah, yeah, Deb, blood oranges...we know..."

I swear, this cat sits on the other side of the fence listening for our backdoor to open. As soon as we step out, he hops over the fence and into our backyard. He's our outside-neighborhood-semi-stray cat that Doug has dubbed "Hobo Joe."

Sweet cat, annoying loud meow. So funny - when I look at the photo above I can hear his voice! reeeeeeeEEEeooooooOOOOoowwwww

We have some tomatoes on the vine, and our jalapeno plant is doing well too.

See ya' next time, Hobo Joe.

Sorry to burst your bubble Deb, but your temps CAN'T be freeeezing or those plants would be dying, not blooming! You want freeeeezing come visit me!

Oh how I love to see blooming things in the winter - nothing blooming here - except frost. We've had unseasonably cold in the PNW and clear skies - and we are enjoying it - the rains will be back soon enough.

I like to pinch the snapdragon flowers just near the bottom of each bloom - and make them sing - they have such pretty voices.

Freezing? I see sunshine! Minus 5 degrees centigrade here today. That's freezing!

We have 4 inches of snow and temps of -10C today. Now that is beyond freezing. You have sunshine and flowers :0)

I am just amazed that with freezing temperatures you have so much growing! The brightness and spring feeling of your photos is very cheery-uppy.

Your grass looks spectacular!
And, we have several hobo cats around us. There are at least two that would run into our house if we let them!

I just found a recipe for blood oranges, and bought the very first ones ever this afternoon. It will be months before anything here will grow like your garden!

Definitely nothing growing here and now, as of a couple of hours ago, even if there was it would be covered up with snow. If it is freezing temps, watch out for those tomatoes.

Got a chance to do some blog reading and had to smile at your freezing too. I'm sitting watching the snow outside my window ;) xx
