A few weeks ago in a random post {I know, that doesn't really narrow it down on this blog, but...} I shared a photo of some carrot tops soaking in water. I was really surprised by some of the comments that were left, asking what they were.
I mean, really. Putting a carrot top in a little dish of water, giving it a little sunshine, and letting it sprout pretty green leaves - how sweet and simple is that?
Right?
I think I'll sprout some beans in a jar next.

* I actually did this a couple of years ago and kept them growing long enough for flowers to form. That was exciting! I ended up planting them in a pot of dirt and they quickly wilted and faded away. Oh well. Still fun.

I did notice them in that recent random post you mentioned and wondered what had happened to the last ones. I just like watching things grow and it feels like a little achievement. Maybe I should try growing the potatoes that always seem to end up sprouting in my vegetable box ;) x
This is one of those simple pleasures I have always enjoyed too. It takes me back to my first year at school.
I remember doing this as a child,Deb...it is fun to watch them grow. I never had much success with pineapple tops though.
I particularly like the one in the mason jar - reminds me of terrariums as kids.

I remember the flowering ones! Guess I've been stalking you for a while! ;)
I like the ones in the mason jar, too. I don't think I've ever seen this before. (Obviously I forgot about your earlier post.)
Did you get seeds from the flowers that might have grown into carrots?!
Alison xx
Ahhhh they are quite lovely but try your hand at growing them in dirt again. The boys and I grew carrots when they were very little...but then again maybe that was from seeds.
I used to do that when I was younger. If you get the seeds from the flowers you can grow more carrots x
