I actually came across the idea for these little Santa hats while wasting time looking for inspiration on Pinterest one day. {Here's a link to the original source.} It was love at first sight, and I knew I wanted to make these this Christmas!
I am not happy about the quality of some of my photos, or that they show what a mess I made while putting these Santa hats together.
that candy melt stuff + DebTurtle = great big mess!
I searched for little marshmallows for hat toppers, wondering if there was such a thing, and couldn't find them so I used the smallest ones I could find and rolled them in my hands to smoosh them down to a smaller size. During a conversation with my wise SIL a few days later {hi Laurie}, she pulled a container out of her pantry containing tiny marshmallows that go in hot chocolate. Oh sure. Next time...
I'm super excited that my sweet blog friend Robyn was able to make some of these little Santa hats for her son Andrew's gingerbread party today. I can't wait to see her photos and to hear how much the kids loved them.
My co-workers liked their treats,
so I know Andrew's friends will love them too.
Oh, how I love all things Santa.

How delicious, and what a great idea for a gift. Your workmates must love having you as a colleague!
candy melt IS messy, isn't it?! I've never used it before….but my goodness! :)
I really like these photos, Deb! I especially like the one from the side perspective of the little hats. :) Sooo cute!
The party is in a few hours…and…and….Andrew woke up with a cough. :( It's *just enough* sick to make me a nervous wreck without being quite enough to cancel the party. ug. His energy is up though…so THAT'S good.
Here's hoping it's not much sick and it IS much yuletide FUN!
LOVE that you gave these out to coworkers. :) I agree with Debs…they must love having you!
Wow - these are amazing, Deb! You are so talented and creative when it comes to these things :) And, you know, everything! xx
I've never come across candy melt before - despite what I imagine is inevitable messiness en route, your finished product is just lovely. I bet they are much appreciated!
They look gorgeous.
They look fabulous, but way too fussy for this cook! We've spent the better part of the day baking cookies, and have half the list done. The rest will be finished tomorrow and Monday (I hope) between other obligations.
I think they look amazing! Those hats are just the cutest thing
They look so cute! But fiddly! Blessings of the Season to you all xx (I'm taking a bit of a blog break.)
I was thinking about making these for the cookie party I attend, until I got to the bit about the candy melt and the dipping and oh my! Way to much work. I made mexican wedding cakes and claimed victory that I actually made it to a holiday party this year - showered, dressed and bringning cookies!

They look so neat! I've never heard of candy melt but it sounds like something I'll steer clear of.
Super cute!
wow. a super idea these look great. I only used candy melts once and i made such a mess it's put me off using them again. Your santa hats are well worth the mess though x
