White Chocolate Chex Mix {aka White Trash}

Or, I like to call it "Reindeer Munch"
I know what you're thinking. Yeah, yeah, we've all had Chex mix, but let me tell you! This stuff is the bomb!

It makes a whole bunch and I like to tie it in bags, put it in pretty containers and give it away as soon as possible! It's highly addictive and you cannot have just one bite!

I'll give you the recipe so you can try it yourself...

one bag of mini-pretzels
5 cups corn Chex cereal
5 cups Cheerios cereal
2 cups M&M's
2 cups salted peanuts
2 16-oz. bags white chocolate chips
2 T. vegetable oil

* Combine first five ingredients in a very large bowl.
* In a separate bowl, microwave white chocolate chips and the vegetable oil for 1 minute. Stir. Continue to microwave at 15-second intervals until chocolate is melted.
* Pour melted white chocolate over cereal mixture and toss to coat all pieces.
* Spread coated mixture onto waxed paper and allow to dry before storing in an air-tight container.

Enjoy!

Looks great! My family is addicted to my mom's recipe for Chex Mix which is a bit different than most. I wasn't going to make it this year, but my brother is coming up this weekend, so now it's on the list. Matt is coming home in January and has also made a request for it. I make a white chocolate, pretzel, and peanut concoction that my hairdresser calls "white trash." I don't dare show up for my December appointment without a bag of it for her. I always find these variations on a recipe so interesting.

I'm curious if you've ever tried it with regular chocolate? None of my family likes white chocolate, but I could see my kids possibly liking this with milk or dark chocolate.

That sounds good. I like the taste of salt with chocolate. I always eat popcorn with melted chocolate mixed in. Will try your recipe this Christmas.

No, I've never had it! And this looks like it combines many, many of my favourite ingredients. I think I'm pinning this, thank you Deb :)

Yum. We call sour cream and onion soup mix dip "white trash dip". I think this could be found at the same holiday table.

Wake me from my diabetic coma when it's New Year's. I am drawn toward all things sugary right now.

Mmmmm I think it sounds absolutely delicious. Something the kids might be tempted to make when they are home next week.
