Holy dust storm, Batman!

This time of year we get some pretty crazy storms in Arizona. Last night's was a doozy! I didn't venture outside with my camera because it was really wicked. The sight of this storm from our backdoor reminded me of the thick fog I grew up with in California, but not as white and fluffy!

EVERYTHING is covered with a thick layer of dust this morning.
You can read more about it here.
It's definitely the talk of the town today!

ooh ick Deb! Don't think I'd enjoy that! So do you try to clean up or just wait for the rain to wash it all away?

WOW, that is some photo! To begin with, it doesn't look so bad - until you realise that the twinkly orange bits are actually people's homes and businesses - then the sheer size of that cloud suddenly dawns on you...
Amazing!
Sorry you have so much mess to clear up though. We had a dust storm, the night after we arrived for a holiday in Cyprus one April. Everything had a layer of red sand over it the next day (but not so thick - phew). The rest of the holiday was warm and sunny though.
Hope you're all cleared up and back to normal soon. Glad you didn't go out in it though!!

That's an amazing shot! And I love how the cactus is in there, so we know it's Arizona! Is it difficult to clear up?

WOW that is an amazing photo, you should enter it in a contest. We've been dealing with smoke from various wildfires many counties away but that is HUGE!

oops when I showed to the Grown One I realized there was a photo credit under it, I was thinking you took it looking out your back door :)

Wow! Don't blame you for not going out with that around! Hope you can soon get rid of all the dust :)

Back in the summer of 1961, right after you were born, I experienced my first AZ summer/monsoon season! Now remember, this was the age of cloth diapers and I only had a washing machine--no dryer. So it seemed that everytime I had diapers on the clothes line, a dust storm would kick up! Followed by the worst thunder and lightening you could ever imagine. I just sat and held you and prayed that "this to shall pass"!! Ah, good times! xo

We were awed by the photos on TV last night! Growing up in Kansas I remember dust storms, and loving to write my name in the dust on the furniture afterwards. I'm sure my mother wasn't thrilled!
