The long and winding road...

...that leads to Young, Arizona.
Doug and I have made this drive to our northern property so many times I've lost count. It's a beautiful drive, and one that I've taken hundreds of photos of along the way.
Last weekend as we made the trek to our northern property I decided to document some of the road signs along the way.
The sign above reads: PRIMITIVE ROAD, CAUTION, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. THIS SURFACE IS NOT REGULARLY MAINTAINED.
We do watch for elk, every time, but rarely (if ever) see one.
Hang on...it's about to get curvy...
And really pretty!
We've seen deer on this road, and even saw a small brown bear one time! This time? A squirrel.
Per Smokey the Bear, no campfires this weekend...
Hang on...
Are you feeling queasy yet?
This is not a road for those prone to car sickness!
Do you think this is a lot of signs? These are only the few that I captured as Doug was driving.
I hope these photos give you a glimpse into why we love this drive so much. These photos were taken on Arizona State Route 288.
~sigh~
We had a wonderful time camping with friends and family
this past weekend and now I'm playing the catch-up game.
Here it is, Tuesday morning, and I still have camp dishes
in the box to finish cleaning up!
I'll have more camping photos later in the week.

Oh my goodness, that is such a different kind of road trip to any you would find around here! Some interesting signs I haven't seen before. But then again, we don't get too many elk in Hertfordshire, UK !

I am one of those car sick people so I should probably step away now!

Hi Deb! I'm so sorry that I haven't been by for such a long while.... so busy...
I've just been having a "catch-up" session and reading your recent posts. So much news and fun! Happy Belated Birthday to Carrie - 23 is somehow a special age - I think it's more "grown up" than 21 and you're approaching your mid-twenties, which must mean you are getting grown up and responsible at last... But still young... and still young enough to be silly sometimes and get away with it! Glad you had a fun party to celebrate - those cakes looked, well... very red... but quite yummy too.

Sounds as if the house move plans are being made with some mixed feelings... I hope it all goes smoothly and you find a lovely new home, that suits you just as well as this house has. As you say, you are taking your "Home" with you, wherever you go! I wish you both very happy, wherever you are living (and let me know if you happen to move over here - I'll recommend some nice places and pop round for a cup of tea! ;-)

Love the new blog design, by the way - so cute!

And the trip to your camping weekend looked very interesting, very sign-post filled and veeery wiiiindyyyy... made me quite dizzy!

Hope I will be back again soon - keep smiling! x

Ohhhhh Deb, I am feeling quite nauseous :( If I were to go camping with you it woul be better for me to not see those signs beforehand lol I am catching up so am reading backwards. Once you are at the property it looks like so much fun and peace. Maybe I could come by helicopter lol. Praying that the wildfires are out soon!
