A candle lit in Sedona.

On the drive into Sedona, Arizona there's a church up on the side of one of those gorgeous red rock mountains. It's called The Chapel of the Holy Cross and it's just so beautiful. In all the times I've been to Sedona I've never taken a detour to actually see the chapel, but that all changed yesterday.
It's a little bit of a trek to get from the parking lot and up to this beautiful spot...but, oh, was it worth it!

This is the view from inside the chapel, on the other side of the beautiful cross...
I lit a candle for my mom.
I burn a lot of candles at home, and every time I light one I do so in honor of someone that I care about. It's a different person every time, but lately the majority of my candles have been lit for my mom.

Do you honor someone special when you light a candle?
Will you honor my mom the next time you do?
She (we) would appreciate it.

Lovely views, lovely candles!
I grew up with the idea of lighting candles - as I was brought up a Roman Catholic. But it was always in church... I never thought to light candles at home, to honour or pray for someone. Hmmm... an idea...
Of course, I would be so glad to light a candle for Marti, to show she is in my thoughts!

What beautiful views - it looks such a perfect location for quiet reflection. We're candle lovers over here too, so will give up a thought when I next light one.

What a stunning Church and what a view! I love that you lit a candle for your Mum and that you think of someone each time you light a candle. At Christmas we light it and remember those who can't be with us but I may take up your idea. I'll certainly light a candle for your Mum xx

I don't honor anyone with a candle, but only because I never thought of it. I will from now on. I will do it tonight, and the first one will be in honor of your mom.

I never visit any church without lighting 2 candles - for my gran (as she was the person I picked up this tradition from) and one for all those people who specially need our prayers that I have in my heart. Your mom is one of those people - so she has had a candle from me just this weekend in our cathedral on a tiny island in the Irish sea. Love your photos! J x

your photos are beautiful, and the cross is spectacular. I've been out of the habit of lighting candles with so many small fingers around, but I'll find one today to light for your mum. My thoughts are with you all xox

What a beautiful church and location! We don't have those kind of mountains here in the SouthEast! So gorgeous. I will definitely keep your mom in my prayers.

I love this chapel. We didn't get to Sedona this time, but on our first trip to Arizona we did. I'll be lighting a candle for your mom!

I too have never thought about offering up a prayer when I light candles at home, but I always do when I visit a Church....from now on I will do so at home too, and your mum shall most certainly have a prayer from me
