The long and winding road to Mom's house...

Hello, blog friends!

Do you take photos from a moving vehicle? :o) I do...
Complete with reflections and bugs on the windshield...
but the drive was so beautiful I couldn't resist.

These photos were taken last weekend on our
trip from Arizona to California to visit family.
* * * * *
There were so many California poppies in full bloom along the freeways:
I love all the fields of crops in California's San Joaquin Valley. Funny that these sights were overlooked and taken for granted while I was growing up there! Now it's the thing I love to see when I go back for visits.
It's not unlike me to take a detour and get out of the car to take some pictures. The almond trees were in full bloom and calling my name. I'll have more photos to share of these beauties later this week.
LOTS of grapevines in this area - mostly grown for raisins here...
And the best sight of all, after 11 hours in the car?
My mom's living room!
Carrie and I had a great visit with our family!
Many thanks to each of you who have left sweet words
of love and encouragement for my mom during this
difficult time. She appreciates it, and so do I.

I hadn't realised it was so far from Arizona to California....I think you could drive the whole length of Britain in less time than that!!
Glad you had a good visit with your mum....some wonderful sights you saw on the way....love the photos.

I am glad you had a good trip, Deb and Carrie. The drive does look beautiful - such a long way! Those almond blossoms are really gorgeous - I'll look out for more photos.
Your mom's sitting room is so pretty and fresh-looking - I love that Danish blue, with yellow and white combination. Lovely!
I hope you had plenty of chance to chat and relax together. Are you home again now? Another all-day drive home? It's a looong way... (I remember a trip to Loch Ness, in Scotland with a friend. We took her big 4x4 and took turns driving. We left Bedforshire at 5am and arrived at about 4pm... so I do know what 11 hours of driving feels like!)

I have tried to take photos out of a moving car with varied degrees of success - you did well Deb!
We are used to long car trips here too, just a fact of life in a large country.

Glad you are home safe and sound, I am sure your Mum loved having you both there for the weekend :-)

Beautiful photos, Deb - and I'm so pleased to hear you had a good trip :-) Having just heard today that I'm probably going to be able to visit California later this year, I was particularly interested to see those blue skies and beautiful views!

I have taken a few photos from moving vehicles, but as I'm usually the driver, I don't tend to get the opportunity....

I woke up this morning thinking I should google "distance from arizona to california", but google tells me it depends on where you're starting and finishing... but 11 hours in the car is about how long it takes me to get to my mum's, so I can only guess that the distance is about the same

You took some great photos, I'm glad to hear your mum is on the mend, and you and Carrie had a safe trip.
